In this video from YouTube you can watch the Hennessey team performing some acceleration and dyno tests on the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray, equipped with their HPE650 Supercharged package.

In stock form the C7 Corvette has 450 bhp (336 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque. Hennessey managed to pump up the power to 650 hp (485 kW) thanks to a new supercharger with a custom pulley and some ECU modifications.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Packs 650 Horsepower

After five long months since Chevrolet took the wraps off the all-new 2015MY Corvette Z06, the Detroit manufacturer has finally announced the specs of its halo sports car's meanest version yet: the blown LT4 V8 churns out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

So it seems that the golden bowtie manufacturer has been underrating the Z06's tower of power by a mere 25 horsepower all these last months. As it happens, the LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine has been SAE-certified at 650 HP at 6,400 rpm, but the best part is the torque figure: the rear wheels will have to endure no less than 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) available when the mill turns over just 3,600 rpm.

According to GM, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is the most powerful production car ever made by the American manufacturer. Hurray for all-American grunt! “The LT4 small block sets a new benchmark for power and torque at GM,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president of powertrain engineering. “The engine also puts the new Corvette Z06 on par with the most powerful supercars offered in America, while delivering performance with impeccable manners that make it suitable for daily driving.”

As it happens, the all-new Z06 churns out more oomph than the SRT Viper's 640 horsepower and it's on par with the Ferrari FF's 651 horses. Compared to the Porsche 911 Turbo S, the Vette offers 90 horsepower and 134 lb-ft of torque (182 Nm) more. Compared to the previous generation's 7.0-liter LS7 mill, the latest model produces 40 percent more peak torque (180 lb-ft/244 Nm). When you put it side by side with the 2013 Corvette ZR1, the manic Z06 trumps it by a whopping 7.5 percent.

This 'power on demand' persona of the LT4 supercharged V8 is aided by technologies borrowed from the Corvette Stingray: continuously variable valve timing, direct injection and a cylinder deactivation feature, to say the least. It's also worth mentioning that the small block V8 is roughly the same size as the 2014 Corvette Stingray's LT1 mill. In fact, the LT4 is based on the same fifth-gen 6.2-liter LT1 powering the Stingray, but it does feature a bucketload of unique features designed to hike its power output.

Just to name a few of them, the conventional aluminum heads have been upgraded to heavy duty Rotocast A356T6 cylinder heads, intake valves are made from lightweight titanium, the connecting rods are machined from forged powder metal steel, all eight pistons are made from forged aluminum, while the dry-sump oiling system features a dual-pressure-control oil pump.

The 1.7-liter blower spins up to 20,000 rpm. That's 5,000 rpm more than the supercharger boosting the Corvette ZR1's power figures. This was made possible thanks to smaller diameter rotors and a more direct discharge port that creates less turbulence, reduces hear and speeds airflow into the 6.2-liter engine.

As far as transmission options go, there are only two to opt from: a standard seven-speed manual transmission based on the unit fitted to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, or an all-new eight-speed automatic with paddle-shift capability. The GM-designed 8L90 is expected to offer full-throttle upshifts "up to eight-hundredths of a second quicker than those of the dual-clutch transmission offered in the Porsche 911."

According to GM, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2014, with first deliveries slated for the beginning of next year. Unfortunately, pricing and options will be disclosed sometime later in the year.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette gains a comprehensive Valet Mode
Can record HD video, in-car audio and vehicle data
Chevrolet has announced the 2015 Corvette will be equipped with a comprehensive Valet Mode.

Described as a "baby monitor for your car," the Valet Mode is activated by entering a unique four-digit code into the infotainment system. When this happens, the glove box and storage bin are locked and access to the infotainment system is blocked until the code is re-entered. Models equipped with the Performance Data Recorder can even record HD video, in-car audio and vehicle data such as speed, gear position, g-forces and engine RPM.

According to Corvette product manager Harlan Charles, "Anyone who has felt apprehension about handing over their keys will appreciate the peace of mind of knowing exactly what happened while their baby was out of sight.” Charles went on to say “[The] Performance Data Recorder was initially designed as a tool for track days, allowing drivers to record their laps and improve their driving skills [but] we soon realized the system could have many more applications, such as recording a scenic drive up Highway 101, or recording when the Valet Mode is activated.”

Let's be honest here for a moment and not beat around the bush – the C7 Corvette is the best-looking Vette in ages, especially when kitted with the Z51 performance package. Even if the standard car is a real headturner per se, you can go full peacock with a trick widebody kit for the American sportscar.

Some of the most appreciated and sought-after widebody C7 Corvettes are the ones made by Forgiato, a company best known for gigantic 32-inch donks and customized McLarens, Ferraris, the lot. But there's a biggie concerning the menacing widebody C7 Corvette from Forgiato – it goes for Aston Martin money...

More specifically, at least $150,000 of your hard earned bucks. But you can get one a little lower than that and with an even more dramatic widebody kit from Progressive Motorsports. Priced at $139,850, this lean, mean, all-black machine has done a little over 1,300 miles and it's currently located in Houston, Texas. Aside from the 3LT trim and Z51 performance package, this wicked 2014 Corvette comes laden with virtually every option that matters from the list.

Magnetic Selective Ride Control active suspension, an 8-inch touchscreen media system with sat nav, concave wheels, red brake calipers, jet black leather seats with sueded microfiber inserts and a little carbon fiber trim here and there. To boot, it's a one-owner car that retains its original Chevrolet warranty.

Moreover, this baby comes with the six-speed automatic transmission for extra shifting smoothness from the potent 6.2-liter V8 motor. Whereas purists won't get too excited over such a contraption, those looking for the biggest visual impact possible on a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will like this this special offer from Progressive Motorsports.

2015 Chevrolet Corvete Z06 spotted in the metal
Kicks off at $78,995
A test fleet vehicle of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been photographed up close and personal.

Chevrolet is putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated Corvette Z06 as a test fleet vehicle wearing Michigan plates and a Crystal Red Tintcoat body paint was spotted in a parking lot. Part of GM's Captured Test Fleet (CTF), such vehicles are being driven by the company's drivers on a daily basis who have to report back to headquarters about how the car behaves. The Z06's configurator is already online for those willing to pay at least the $78,995 starting price of the coupe whereas the convertible kicks off at $83,995.

Deliveries are programmed to kick off early next year and both body styles will be powered by a V8 6.2-liter supercharged engine with 650 bhp (485 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) working with either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle seen here also has the optional Z07 and carbon fiber ground effects packages which jack up the price by $7,995 and $2,995, respectively.

^ HAHA :D

I saw my first C7 on the road here in Holland today. If you see such an American car so early in it's life on the road here, you know it's going to be a success (at least in the U.S). Looked really good btw. Compact and dynamic. Did like!
