Cadillac CT6 [Official] Cadillac CT6 (2016)

The Cadillac CT6 (short for Cadillac Touring 6) is a full-size luxury car manufactured by Cadillac between 2016 and 2020 over two generations. The first generation CT6 was introduced at the 2015 New York International Auto Show and went on sale in the U.S. in March 2016. It is the first car to adopt the brand's revised naming strategy, as well as the first rear-wheel drive full-size Cadillac sedan since the Fleetwood was discontinued in 1996. In 2020, the CT6 was discontinued in the United States, to be replaced by the forthcoming Cadillac Celestiq liftback sedan.
What they're saying doesn't make sense. The CT6 is the size of a LWB German luxury sedan.

Cadillac CT6
Wheelbase - 122.4 inches Length - 204.1 inches
7 series
Wheelbase - 126.4 inches Length - 205.5 inches
S Class
Wheelbase - 124.6 inches Length - 206.5 inches (LWB)

Unless the new flagship is sized like a Maybach, it will be competing with the LWB competitors AND the CT6.

Cadillac is doing things a little different than it`s Germans competitors. It is not downsizing it`s flagship sedan like the Germans have done. The CT6 is about the size of a standard-wheelbase BMW 7-Series. It is designed to compete with those standard wheelbase cars. Cadillac`s new flagship will compete with the LWB versions. It is a higher model and is rumored to get a twin-turbo V8, AWD and 4-wheel steering like the CT6 with more cutting edge technology than the CT6.

Its a good looking car, the exterior looks sharp, interesting and sophisticated and abit elegant and noble looking. The interior though just isn't classy looking to stand a chance against the Germans. Its not bad but missing the quality look and details that make the Germans stand out. Even a C-class interior makes this Cadillac look cheap inside. The chassis and body structure and lightweight claims are very interesting. I was hoping Cadillac would bring out a show stopper with this car but its not up to the S-Class, A8 or 7-series standards for sure in its interior details and look.

I agree about the exterior. It does have a level of sophistication about it.
The sharp angles and creases in the design pays homage to the original Cadillac design language of the late 60s and 70s. The straight edge DRLs on the front end is in honor of the fin markers, also of that era.

Bottom line, it's a conservative design from a company that is desperately trying to rebrand itself. It's the exact opposite of what Cadillac should be doing.

Cadillac has the bad habit of creating beautiful concepts like the Sixteen and Elmiraj (below) and then follow them up with bland production models.

Very few (if any) hi-volume car companies truly follow up on concept ideas.
You can pretty much throw that out the window already.

Cadillac CT6 plug-in hybrid detailed, gets 335 bhp and 432 lb-ft

Has a 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack
Cadillac has introduced at Auto Shanghai in China a plug-in hybrid version of the recently revealed CT6.

The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine working together with a newly developed rear wheel electric variable transmission (EVT) featuring two electric motors granting the luxury sedan with a combined output of 335 bhp (250 kW) and 432 lb-ft (586 Nm) of torque.

Cadillac hasn't disclosed the vehicle’s weight, but they do say the added hardware helps the CT6 double its fuel economy. It has been equipped with a 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located between the rear seats and trunk providing enough juice for "most daily commutes", although an exact all-electric range has not been specified.

The CT6 PHEV benefits from a Regen on Demand system allowing the driver to temporarily regenerate energy from vehicle momentum into electricity which is then stored in the battery pack for a later use. The system can be turned on by using the steering wheel-mounted paddles and when activated it will slow the car when entering a turn as a method to better position it on the exit.

Cadillac mentions the plug-in hybrid CT6 will have three driving modes: normal, sport and hold. "Normal" is suitable for everyday commuting and provides the best balance between comfort, performance and efficiency. "Sport" enables a more aggressive pedal mapping and stiffens the steering response. As for "Hold", it allows the driver to select when the car uses its engine, thus reserving the available battery for a later use.

The CT6 PHEV is set to go on sale in China, United States as well as other markets, with full details to be released closer to the model's launch.

Cadillac plans to offer full model lineup in Europe, including diesels and RHD

Flagship model sitting above CT6 is coming
Cadillac has announced plans to offer a full model lineup in Europe where it aims to grabs customers by providing "exceptional service."

Speaking to Autocar, GM's president Dan Ammann said they are working on a full-on European assault with a complete lineup, including a new flagship model that will sit above the recently unveiled CT6. He went on to say the Euro-spec cars are getting diesel engines and will also be offered in right-hand drive countries.

Interestingly, Ammann admitted a beefier version of the CTS-V is in the works but did not provide an exact timetable regarding its launch. Until that happens, the Euro-spec CTS-V will go on sale sometime this fall right after the smaller ATS-V.

Before tackling the very competitive European market, Cadillac aims to achieve a re-positioning in United States as a business separate from the GM empire.

I really wonder how they will position a car on top of a car that is already longer and larger than the largest cars in the segment. Don't see the point here. Guess everything is bigger in America. This car will be like the trenta cup at Starbucks. It's there but no one buys it.

Bump!

This is a great looking car. But having sat in the car, sadly, that's where the beauty ends. The interior is an absolute disaster, both in terms of ergonomics and in terms of quality/craftsmanship.

Has anyone else on here sat in the CT6?

2016 Cadillac CT6

Cadillac will launch the 2016 CT6 flagship sedan March next year at a starting price of $53,495.

After making its debut earlier this year at the New York Auto Show, the Cadillac CT6 will enter production in January at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant and will be available on order two months later with a choice of three powertrains: 265 bhp 2.0-liter turbo from $53,495, 335 bhp 3.6-liter V6 with AWD from $55,495 and a 400 bhp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with AWD from $64,395.

Later on, a plug-in hybrid will join the range with a combined output of 335 bhp (250 kW) and 432 lb-ft (586 Nm) of torque coming from a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo and dual electric motors. Cadillac says work on the hybrid powertrain has not been finalized just yet, so it will be a while until this more frugal version will be out.

The Cadillac Touring 6 (CT6) sedan is already available on order, but you won’t be able to take the first production car as this was auctioned back in April to benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. The most expensive version money can buy is the CT6 Platinum model which begins at $83,465, excluding the $995 for the usual DPH fees and any other optional goodies available such as the 34-speaker Bose Panaray sound system which is being billed as the “most advanced and highest-performing automotive sound system.”
