Chiron [Official] Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.
So this iteration of the Chiron surely heralds the introduction of a Chiron Longtail Supersport thingy.
The numbers are just ridiculous and frankly mind-blowing. This machine is as much (perhaps more) limited by situational constraints as it is by mechanical ones. Simply astonishing.

I couldn't quite believe the numbers, or the headline, I thought it was fake, or a video simulation, I just wish perhaps the Chiron can reach 500km/h.
Yeah same with me, the numbers are quite unbelievable and a huge increase on the standard Chiron limited top whack of 420km/h. I was hoping also it will be the first car to crack 500km/h and fill its speedo (marked to 500km/h).

The way it builds up speed over 400km/h is amazing also, it definitely looks more punchy at higher speeds than the standard Chiron.

Another thing that noone is mentioning - who of us would have balls to drive a car 490 or 500 km/h, no matter which car? The fastest i ever drove a car was 309 km/h and it was crazy, i cannot imagine driving a car over 350 km/h, let alone 490...:eek:

Speed Demon, 462mph (don't know if it was still accelerating beyond that point):

It's not really the same thing, I couldn't pop into Ford and order a 300mph GT, where as I bet I could buy the Bugatti, I could also give the bugatti to my mum for here weekly shopping, its a doodle to drive, the Ford on the other hand probably wouldn't like stop start traffic.

I believe the standard Chiron could hit around 450km/h with out the limiter, and I am sure the engineers at Bugatti would have been trying everything they possibly can to try to make the car hit 500km/h. But 300 mph is still astonishing.

Wait, what are we comparing here? Dragsters and LSR flavour vehicles with parachutes to an albeit special run of a true serial production car?!? This car is a demonstration of the latent potential within the Chiron concept.

Every part of the Bugatti is designed for that kind of speed, where else this particular Ford GT requires a parachute at the back of the car to stop.

I’ve been somewhat following that Ford GT for over 10 year, the amount of blown motors and technical failures it has had makes it a very silly comparison. That GT is not drivable outside the drag strip.

This particular Ford GT model is not produced anymore, its the previous model that debuted in 2004/2005 when the Veyron first appeared. The standard model achieved 330km/h in a test done by AMS with the Veyron. This is a heavily modified car that is same is a dragster, so its not in the same category as this Chiron.

Andy Wallace tiene cojones mas grande. Big ups to him, the folks at Michelin, and the Bug's engineers.

Regarding the mods for this high-speed run: holed on the front fender to relieve pressure in the front wheel housing, vent just aft of front wheel, rear exhaust, race bucket seat. What else am I missing? It seems the tail is a bit extended, but perhaps my eyes are deceiving me. I wonder if it has the standard Chiron engine or if it has the 1600 hp engine found in the EB110 homage.

Now speaking of their few-offs, they'd be stupid if this version, or at least a tribute to this, wasn't offered to the public. This would be a worthy iteration or a giant ego-stroker, depending who you ask. I am sure Winkelmann is on it.

According to the information, it is the upgraded 1600 hp version. The rear seems to be extended just a tad, and the rear end of the car , around the central part, is more open than before.

Thanks for the info, Derek. I generally read up (or at least skim) any new posts I've missed since I've last visited a thread. Alas, I didn't this time as I was amped up from just watching Bugatti's vid on YT. Yea, the rear is definitely extended. I need to go read the press release (if there is one) and find out more. Really blown away by this feat.
