As said before: there's quite substantial interest from Range Rover owners for the X7. Even among fleet customers - which was a nice positive surprise for BMW Sales department.
BMW Design department has really managed to design & style an high-end full size SAV that manages to attracts all: families, fleet buyers, those wanting classy & sporty alternative to Range Rover, plus all the more "extroverted" customers who want their large SAV bling-ed or menace-d. Depends on Line and trim.
The last time BMW did that was with the 1st gen X5 (E53). X7 is definitely a home run for BMW.
Btw, there's also a very positive response to 7er LCI, and to the 8er family. The 8er GC - shown to VIP customers (and to media a few weeks ago) - generated the biggest interest. Quite some Panamera owners were approached & poached.
An interest in THE models (7er, X7 & 8ers) will help to boost BMW's profit - and that's very important in these turbulent times (possible EU fines for collusion, possible trade wars, increased expenses for R&D - mainly for BEVs & autonomous driving etc.
Oh, it was announced by the CEO @ Annual Shareholder meeting they are aiming at #1 ... in USA, and Worldwide ... while Chine will be a bit harder nut to crack & to overtake MB there (BMW still lags in production capacities in China compared o MB & Audi - thus the sales lag since Made in China models are the biggest sellers there). Btw, some shareholders were quite critical BMW is to slow & too conservative when it comes to BEV models expansion. But the Quandts & other big institutional shareholders still stick with the CEO & Board's current "Number ONE > Next" strategy (gradual transition to BEVs ... not putting all eggs in one basket only too quickly). Btw, BMW will start to make battery cells (battery packs are already made in-house, while the cells are supplied by suppliers) on their own only when solid state battery tech is ready for mass production.
