X5 M / X6 M [Official] BMW X6 M Thread

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.
under 8 min for a 2ton truck with a slushbox is impossible.

Might as well tell us its got a magnetix flux linkage capacitor and its capable of time travel :D

BMW X6 destroyed the Cayenne GTS on Nurgburing test

And Autozeitung (with Walter Röhrl doing the driving) got an 8:50 in the GTS. So you have an 8:50 and a 9:01 for the same car.

To put these times in perspective: these brand new >400hp SUVs are running the same times as a FWD Golf IV Gti with 180hp (8:54).

I believe the GTS vs X6 test where X6 did 8:54 and GTS 9:01 was done over the whole course not the bridge to gantry time sport auto uses. I could be wrong though.

Thankfully I don't care about what you think about the looks, only what I think of it myself. And it's stunning. X6 M is the prettiest SUV ever made.....dog turd.....jesus.

Ofcourse man..not everyone can like what i like
then there would be very few S classes left in the world and very few dark hair women with thick behinds..lol:D

:rofl::rofl: To each his own.

Yea the S-Cass is for V.I.Ps only.:)

Trust me I've meet Kim Kardashian. She not what you think she is.:usa7uh:;)

Beating the E46 isn't a grand achievement as the car is over 10 years old. It's like me boasting about beating my grand father in a 100m sprint.

Luwalira, I must admit, your rueful sense of humor cracks me up. And Artist, Kim Kardashian is no man :)

Question: Since you all keep going back and forth about Nurinburg lap times and who-can-beat-who debates, I have to ask: Are any of you ever taking any of these cars and throttling them to the floor like that? What freeways/highways/Matchbox strip are you testing a car's maximum capabilities on?

In other words-does it truly matter?

There is only one car to beat around N-ring: X5 Lemans, the car did it in 7.49 minutes  :D

^^ yea, with an engine you can completely throw away after 500 km....niiiiiice :jpshakehe
The old X5 Le Mans is no production car or anything remotely close to that. That car was made with the sole reason to show the world what BMW was capable of at that time. A working dream.

Still nice though :) A manual V12 X5. I vividly remember seeing the X5 Le Mans for the first time in a magazine, btw

Well, I live right next to the North Sea in Holland, and it is only an hour drive to the German Autobahn for me. Easy testing there :D

so you think BMW V12 engines only last 500KM's? Niiiiiiiiice :usa7uh:

you better do a ninja edit on that comment before Artist and Tarek see it, they're going to grill you to the ground.

:t-cheers:

The V12 in the X5 Le Mans is a high revving Motorsport one-of-it's-kind masterpiece, and it indeed lasts 500 km only. Then it has to be taken out of the car and completely rebuild it if you want to use it again. They raced and won Le Mans with it after all.
It has nothing to do with the regular production V12 at that time (5.4 liter 328 hp).....the Le Mans has 700 hp (!!)

Its worth it. Imagine the look of BMW,MB and Porsche drivers when you smoke them on the streets ;)

Sure, but that's a whole different story :D

The X5 Le Mans is just a dream. It's the same as putting an F1 engine in the M3.

On the X5 Le Mans (2000):

To brighten up the X5 launch BMW decided to built a very special version of the X5 showcasing the maximum ability of the car. Under the enlarged bonnet BMW have installed the 1999 Le Mans winning V12 engine. Now without the mandatory restrictors the engine is good for a healthy 700 bhp, which is about twice as much as the most powerful X5 V8. The chassis was adjusted to handle this slight power increase.
This all sounds very good on paper but racing driver Hans-Joachim Stuck took the X5 Le Mans for a spin on one of the most demanding racing tracks in the world, the Nurburgring. He recorded a very impressive lap time of 7.49,92 minutes, that is over 25 seconds faster than a Z8.

Does anyone know what other colors are available beside Imola red, Estoril blue, Alpine White, Sapphire black, and Silverstone?
Any chance of Carbon or Jerez black and Le Mans blue?

And it went under 8 mins ... During testings. In almost ideal condition, with just enough fuel on board, and a driver who can do the Ring blindfolded. :D

This is why manufacturer times are worth less than the bandwidth it takes to present them. Same goes for that "out-of-my-hat" time presented by Cadillac - but as always, it is great for marketing to have something spectacular to present, even if it is completely irrelevant as it can never be reproduced. Nissan, you can have a piece of that too...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
