X5 [Official] BMW X5 (F15)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Also, the more tame-looking X5 will now allow X6 to look more special, sportier. That wasn't really the case in E70/E71 X5/X6 case - where both cars shared almost the same face, especially after LCI..

I see your point.
By setting the bar so low with this X5, BMW has to do barest minimum to set the next X6 apart from the X5.
What a twisted and defeatist idea.

Looking better now? :D

I read the word - Ugly.

Each to his own and off coarse in "the eye of the beholder";)

Just that really, the rear is 'odd' and the rest familiar (good facelift at best) but there is no such thing as an - Ugly, X5. The F15 has a great presence and even greater front-end that I cannot fault typical and best BMW Presence:cool: I criticized the ML for being a weak evolution, the X5 unfortunately did follow the trend of even more-lame. IMO.

@EnI
What's the base price for the 2WD 4pot? How does the standard interior look like?

Check the German prices: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pressclub/p/de/download.html?textId=174319&textAttachmentId=216955

Standard interior without excessive leather, ceramics, BlackPanel instruments etc? It looks a bit more sparse. Just like eg a standard 5er. But still much better than E70. It's the same difference as in the case of E60 vs F10 5er regarding perceived quality of the cockpit & the cabin in general.

Those wallpapers confirm my first impression, the X3is back is ruinning it the most. It was the area that differeciated the most the X5 with all other X, it was sovereign and commanding, now it's justa cheap trendy excercice.

Interior is an improvement imo. I think it`s fresh and will age well...
Not impressed with the exterior design though.

Looking better now? :D

No, to me it looks even worse now... not sure about this interior combo too... only the Modern interior is what I truly like.

PS: Thanks for the price list. It's strange that the US oriented 2WD version is only offered as a diesel from launch...
Another thing is that the S-Drive is only 2k cheaper than the X-Drive.

Last question: Does the Modern line include everything we see in the pictures... like the leather and so on?
Can we expect the lines to cost about 3.500EUR ?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Ohh I see that the price list also includes the options.
I'm still searching for the lines tho... if there are any :)

Could you please be so kind and explain in more detail:

Driving Experience Control switch fitted as standard; 1. Comfort, 2. Dynamic and 3. Professional adaptive suspension packages and Adaptive M suspension can be specified to enhance the car’s sporty handling properties and ride comfort; Electric Power Steering for all model variants; Active Steering optional.

What is the difference between them.

(Adaptive Air Suspension?:D)

The rear is now much more in-line with the other X-models: X1 & X3. A variation on the same theme. In some way the more 3D cluster design of tail lights is much more similar to X1 than to X3 (which has the clusters lined with the sheet-metal just like E70). The 3D appearance of F15 tail lights is much more evident in IRL than on 2D photos. And the 3D L- like tubes / loop as well.

What bothers me is the massive cut in the bumper flat-looking tail gate due to 2-piece gate design. IMO in the single piece gate design the tail gate & rear bumper design would be much better executed, and more harmonious & elegant looking. This 2-piece tail gate design makes the rear looking a bit to utilitarian. But I guess customers love such feature, so it's not going anywhere.

The car looks fine IRL. But it has too be "pimped up" well. Some entry-level models do look unfinished somehow. But that's the case with all BMW cars lately. When you can make a cheap-looking econo-car, or a upscale looking premium car out of the same model - just equipped differently (packages, colors, rims, headlight tech etc). So, your BMW can look like a cheap Chinese car or very regal as some fine British brand car. Weird. But I guess that's the path to company's success. Sure there were entry-level models in the past as well - but the difference between entry & high-end level wasn't that big as it is today. And the cars are deliberately designed so to look much better in the most expensive trim. So the customers pick more optional features when buying a car. It's not just a trick BMW do, but somehow in BMW case it's more evident. At least to me. :D

So 2WD?
Yeah it's one of many US trucks now :D
I love the interior and do think it's the best SUV interior ever.
One of the best BMW interiors IMO. It's just right. I LOVE IT!
But why oh why you had to make that Dodge look so fugly...

If this car is cheap(for a BMW) then I can understand the sacrifice in appearance to suit the masses in dA uSa...

Why? This interior is scarcely more premium than the 3 Series interior! It will of course feel better when experienced IRL, due to scale and F10 binnacle (speedo etc). But you will have to spec this interior very carefully to lift it. If they allow the option to spec the speedo with the full digital version, then it may be premium enough for me. But that should be standard in this sparse interior.

Read further. ;)

Using the standard-fitted Driving Experience Control switch on the centre console, the drive settings can be matched to the requirements of the moment or to different driving situations.

The COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+ and ECO PRO modes, which can be selected at the press of a button, allow the driver to customise the accelerator response characteristics, the power steering characteristics, the characteristics of the automatic transmission. On vehicles fitted with the optional Comfort and Professional Adaptive Suspension packages, the characteristics of the Dynamic Damper Control can be customised also.

On vehicles with the optional Dynamic and Professional Adaptive Suspension packages, the characteristics of the active roll stabilisation system and the Dynamic Performance Control can also be customised. The suspension packages available for the new BMW X5 cater to individual requirements in terms of comfortable or sporty driving styles.

The Comfort Adaptive Suspension package comprises Dynamic Damper control and Air suspension with automatic self-levelling rear suspension. The electronic control logic adapts the damping characteristics to changing road conditions and driving situations. Two different damping modes can be selected using the Driving Experience Control switch.

The same functionality is also provided by the Adaptive M suspension, which is standard on the BMW X5 M50d and also part of the M Sport package for the other model versions. In this version, SPORT or SPORT+ modes offer extra-firm suspension and damping characteristics.

The various components of the Dynamic Adaptive Suspension package provide significantly sportier cornering dynamics. Dynamic Performance Control and the Dynamic Drive active roll stabilisation systems optimise directional stability and reduce body roll.

Finally, the Professional Adaptive Suspension package maximises both comfort and dynamics. This option combines the components of the Comfort and Dynamic Suspension packages into an integrated system offering highest levels of driving enjoyment in all situations.

I actually like it. The side and front more so than the rear, but still a nice job BMW (IMO).
