X1 [Official] BMW X1 (F48)

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
Very impressive. The exterior looks great and the interior looks to have a lot of room for a vehicle in this class.

Geez it looks great!!

Throw on some 10mm spacers to bring the wheels out a bit more and the stance will be perfect!

Off-roading abilities? Meh, not a priority.

Pleasant surprise i must say, it is actually more boxy and quite a bit taller than its predecessor, but overall it's still OK. I still like the lower, longer hood of the previous model more, those RWD proportions on a SUV, it was so unique. I'm sure they can squeeze a lot more interior space into this new version though.

What an upgrade over the current model both inside and out. Interior looks much better, as the current X1 has one of the worst interiors as far as quality and materials I have ever sat in, in a car above 25K. Nice work BMW. Better looking than GLA. At least more SUV looking than the GLA.

Oh man, Martin, you and your Forester should get a room! ;)

Subaru owners are a very loyal bunch ......my brother is a fan of them too.

The writer's arguments for why BMW's use of FWD is not so bad, made sense. Overall, it is a really attractive package ....I can imagine my sister driving one. I like it much more than the GLA and Q3.

Actually - I own a BMW*. The wife owns the Forester. ;) * A proper rear-wheel drive BMW.
A rear-wheel drive BMW is a Beemer.
A front-wheel drive BMW is a Beemeh.

And yes, I concede that this far nicer than any of its direct rivals. BMW has a money-spinning cashcow right here. Let's hope they redirect some of those profits-from-selling-your-soul into the stuff that makes great BMWs great.

Great looking exterior, nice proportions and glad to see that the headlamps and Kidney grills aren't awkwardly joined. Profile looks good. I like it more than the X3 from the outside.

The interior on the other hand. At first glance it's okay. But then you notice the gear lever and wonder how they could have made it look nicer. The dash, the area below the screen and surrounding the buttons also appears low rent.

In my world those are three completely different cars: X1 or a 5er?!
I'd wait for the 5er.

I have a '14 X5 so I do not necessarily need a 4 -wheel drive car and I like the smaller BMWs since they drive so well. I particularly like the N20 based 3er's so the B58 seems to be a logical step up. That said, I would not mind the new G30 if it had all the bells and whistles of the G11.

Looks like the pig snout it's here to stay. I can't even imagine how large the kidney grill will be in the X7.

Regarding the rest, with it's UKL architecture, it's cheaper to produce, so more profits. And with twin models like the large wheelsbase and X4, virtually identical, more money to be made. Milk them dry!!

Although it's still a bit piggy the front is as resolved as the one on the 1-Series LCI. Soon enough there won't be any entry level Bimmers that look like they were designed by a step child of Adrian Van Hoydonk.

Borrowing from the X4 is clever idea to give the car a fun look and distance it from the more mature and utilitarian X3 and X5.

What's with the gear level for an eye sore? The height and shift boot of it is that of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter.

The gear lever is looking like the one from the Mini Cooper ..... But i like the extorier the interior should be better in real life.

I think it is good news we talk about a few tiny things of the interior, and the gear level. They are trully the only negatives of the car.

But this is so much better looking than the CLA and the Q3 that only a bad pricing could make a customer go for them.

Looks really good though the interior leaves a bit to be desired. Some of the touches look a bit dated...? Doubt many buyers will care or even be aware that it's FWD.

Yes but you also have the MINI,MINI 5dr,MINI Cabrio,MINI Clubman and Countryman and the X1,X2,X1L 2er Active/Gran Tourer and next 1er family so all the better. leading up to projections of 600,000 combined MINI/BMW UKL based units by 2020.

Yes the X7 will have a huge grille similar in proportion to this.
That V12 will need a lot of air. If we put this in SAV height and adjust the front aerodynamics it is looking very similar like this. This will be the ultimate BMW SAV.

I cannot wait for you to see the MINI Clubman. From a flexibility perspective It is brilliant and its going to very, very popular.
