Who can tell us more about the 8-Speed Steptronic in transverse application? Made by?
X2, and X2 Sport. I wonder what that could be.Is it about CAV vs SAC? Or 5dr vs 3dr?
Oh man, Martin, you and your Forester should get a room! For those so inclined to evaluate the Utility in SUV then ground clearance is 183mm. Nothing special at all so all those lifestyle, outdoorsy shots are somewhat cynical. For frame of reference a Freelander Sport - oops I mean Discovery - has 215mm at the front axle if memory serves. Not that X1 is a direct competitor to Disco Sport - that would be the X3 - in spite of the fact that the mechanical architecture (transverse-oriented drivetrain) is the same between X1 and the Land Rover.
For those quick to point out that this is an SAV and A stands for Activity - whatever that may be - then there are some positives: the exterior looks are great and this little thing will sell like hotcakes. The 50:50 weight distribution is great and the XDrive being able to send up to 100% of the torque to the rear wheels sounds great but is not in any way remarkable in this day and age.
The interior - specifically the dashboard facia doesn't give off real BMW vibes, for obvious reasons - granted. The long gear lever with leatherette gaiter looks weird and un-BMW-like in the current interior idiom. I personally am not a fan of the integration between the hang-down console and the transmission tunnel console.

It's nice but am I rushing out to get in the queue? Nope. Forester stays as the soft-roader of choice in this family.
Regarding X2 ... BMW just keeps going with marketing activities for two X2 models: X2, and X2 Sport. I wonder what that could be.Is it about CAV vs SAC? Or 5dr vs 3dr? We shall see that pretty, pretty soon. Since marketing activities for both models are running simultaneously I assume both models will be premiered at the same time. Btw, China gets X1L though.
will the next 5 adopt from the 7? I am currently looking to change one of my cars for another BMW; either a FL 3 series, an X1 or wait for the next 5The X2 will again be a family affair so Sport Activity Coupe and 5drs to line up against the X4 and X6. Currently they are working on the next X4 so it will be launched in 2018 that gives the current F26 a shelf life of just over four years. The next one will of course be X3 G01 based so everything won't be mid-life new anymore. The new X3 is one of my favourite up and coming BMWs as is the 5er Gran Turismo which is a real extension of the 7er everything you see and feel in the 7er is interpreted in the same way in the Gran Turismo.
And M Sport Packet.
