M6 [Official] BMW M6 (F12/13)

The BMW M6 is a high-performance version of the 6 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand from 1983 to 2019 (with a hiatus from 1990 to 2004). Introduced in the coupe body style, the M6 was also built in convertible and fastback sedan ('Gran Coupe') body styles for later generations. An M6 model was built for each of the first three generations of the 6 Series. Production of the M6 ended in 2019 and it was replaced by the BMW M8 (F91/F92/F93) in 2019. Official website: BMW M

Reminds me of a story a BMW dealer in South Africa told me when I was test driving an M3. The dealer said some guy came in wanting to test drive a new M3, half way through the test drive the guy pulled out a gun and told the dealer to get out. No need to rob the bank when you can rob BMW direct...

Pray no bank does get robbed or else you will be the Police's prime suspect. lol

P.S.
On a more serious note I notice that like the RS4 Avant BMW have yet to officially release this car's weight, any ideas as to why this is?

No, BMW isn't playing such games.

M6 Coupe: 1,925kg (EU)
M6 Convertible: 2,055kg (EU)

Best regards,

I only looked at the UK site which regarding the weight states TBA.

Maybe the final spec of UK cars having been decided which might explain the lack of a weight figure, can you explain why it's absent there?

Taken by me in Geneva.

What a FULGY engine cover. The very only weak point of the M cars. What´s the point of adding this stupid piece of plastic?

Thanks for the photos Betty!

What's your opinion of the car having seen it in the metal now ? (in terms of design and build quality, and compared to other cars on the show floor)

Looks fantastic in the flesh. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to look inside on the Saturday.

The orange is great, I prefer it to Valencia.

Betty, does it look more like red irl or it looks orange ?
I love it exactly the way it looks in your pictures but I know you've played with the colors a little :)
A red BMW GC (4er or 6er I don't care) isn't far away from my dream family car...

It really does look good. Better proportions than the 6er GC, which I actually thought looked odd in real life. The LED headlights are probably the best design I have seen on any car. The Sakhir Orange is a great colour too and the one I would choose.

BUT, you have to remember it is significantly more expensive than the M5 it was parked next to. I started to question it then. If they'd given the M6 more power and added things like LED headlights as standard, then maybe the price would be justified. As it stands, I would have the M5 and save myself a lot of money......and have a more practical car.

In real life it is definitely orange.

Nice photo's and a great contribution to the thread, thanks Betty.

A very unique color, Sakhir Orange. I am one of those who prefer red only on a Ferrari, yet this Orange fits this Beemer rather well.

:t-cheers:

Regarding the engine cover, I would imagine the heat will be intense with those two turbos there and the cover is as much to protect hands among other things from those hot parts as anything else. Though it's not the prettiest of items I have to admit.

Glad to hear that's your take on it in real life, as in pics I just don't get some of the positive comments on here expressed about it.... it looks terribly awkward and not right IMO.

The Coupe on the other hand, magnifique!

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
