And sells much better than E class, which looks like C class in terms of size and road presence.

In reality, we know this is because BMW was wise to create EV and ICE versions of the same car. I personally don't think the E-class' looks are what's holding it back from better sales...and I have a feeling you don't actually believe that either.

Meh, you can tell when people are being genuine vs. just being a troll. This isn't going to be solved on this forum...this behavior dates back well over a decade. This most recent crop of enthusiastic brand followers are just more extreme than the folks that have breezed through in the past.

I beg to differ. We've already established with figures that sales of the 5 series are significantly higher, even without considering the i5.

As for the reasons, there could be many. Regarding design, I believe the 5 series is more in line with what buyers want TODAY: more innovative, eye-catching, and modern. The E series is repetitive, the same as the rest of the line, more predictable and boring, which is not to say, and is far from it, that it's ugly.

Did we? I haven't seen the sales split for the U.S. That's new to me.

i guess the 5er sells more because BMWs are currently the “Cool Cars” of the street. But regardless of that , The E-class is much elegant more looking.

Exactly. It’s tiresome seeing the same freaks calling the people from the other camp trolls.
Their fanatism looks stupid no matter their cause.

Just because 5er sells more doesn’t mean E-Class is the worse one of the bunch. Both of them are excellent in their own ways.

But it is. Worthless to the point nobody in the EU would even notice if it wasn't sold anymore. A complete non factor.

My god. Seriously?

You BMW guys are relentless. Yes so is @leylandi, but colectively you guys are like a pack of wild dogs, once again turning a civil discussion about the FL 5 into a pointless argument.

Didn't want to offend anyone, but I asked myself if current 5 is "tragic," how Mercedes failed to be outsold with big difference by a tragic car. Here I see a 5 series almost everywhere, while Mercedes E very rarely. But maybe sales difference is a little smaller than it looks since it is also very easy to overlook E class on the road.

And about "wild BMW dogs." My previous car was E class w213.

@Shakal don’t worry. Everybody who is saying one good word about bmw is a fanboy. I’m driving a w211 (e240 v6 petrol) and they count me for sure in the world of the bmw fanboys.

Absolutely ridiculous to call @Shakal a BMW fanboy in the first place. Completely out of place in fact.
BMW fanboys are literal saints compared to the nonstop derailment in the BMW section. But let's not discuss that and start calling everybody not liking some of these vile MB models BMW fanboys. Easy.

Is it really that bad in EU? E-Class’ are everywhere in Turkiye.

Over here it doesn't exist. Apparently not in Madrid either according to @SKY
I do sometimes see the occasional German plate E class, or one from the Corps Diplomatique from some country ("CD" license plates, my city has all the embassies and what not)

Their fanatism looks stupid.

...better said "looks silly" or "looks childish". But yes, on occasion "incredibly stupid" can arguably apply.

As annoying as it can sometimes be, taking a stoic approach and walking on is in the very most cases the best approach. Should the "fanatism" become hostile, the moderators are here to address it.

I wouldn't say the current generation E-Class looks like a C-Class.. Mercedes has done a good job with the proportions for sure.

Previous generation I definitely confused the E and C the first few times I saw them, but the current generation is very different.

@Shakal & @klier, frame it how you like, there was no point in bringing the E into the discussion, period. There are enough threads thrown of course.

But since ownership of a W213 has been referenced as some sort of 'defence,' The W213 looks far more like an enlarged C than the W214 does. The point regarding the 214 is moot.
