M3/M4 [Official] BMW M4 GTS

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
How much for previous M3 GTS? Did they sell all cars?
I dont think they would have med this car if they can't sell them.

Well, there are still brand new cars to be had, even if they were bought by dealers on speculation. This is BMW, not Ferrari.

Every time I go through the specs, this video comes to my mind

It will be interesting to see how many noobs will get a hold of one and decide to turn off traction to impress the crowd. The bump in torque (600 Nm) + PS Cup2 tires should be good enough for some quick punishment for anyone trying to showoff on public streets.

Most of you seem to forget, it's a limited run "700 cars Worldwide".

30 RHD cars for the UK market only.

Only bimmer fans will draw their m-powered sword and start slashing sales advisors heads to get on the list. (Hence: GT3 RS / 458 Speciale fanboys?)

But it still has air conditioning.

It doesn't! It only weighs 27kg less than an M DCT equipped M4 Coupe. A manual gearbox M4 Coupe actually weighs LESS than the M4 GTS, so you could walk into a BMW dealer and buy a standard M4 and you wouldn't have to do ANY stripping to make it lighter than a GTS.

No it doesn't. On the official website it says the EU1 (including driver) is 1,510kg, which is wrong. The DIN weight would be 75kg less than that.

Whoever's job it was to transfer the data to the official website hasn't done their job properly. The DIN weight is 1,510kg, and the EU1 weight is 1,585kg. So it is 27kg less than the standard M4.

The official press release.

Lightweight design extends into the details.Intelligent lightweight construction allows the BMW M engineers to limit the car’s DIN kerb weight to 1,510 kilograms (ECE kerb weight: 1,585 kg).

I was talking about the standard M4.

I was talking about the standard M4.

I really have no idea what you mean "I was talking about the standard M4". That still wouldn't make any sense.

The weights are as follows (in order from lightest to heaviest):

Standard M4 Coupe (6-speed gearbox)
1,497kg (DIN)
1,572kg (EU1)

M4 GTS
1,510kg (DIN)
1,585kg (EU1)

Standard M4 Coupe (M DCT gearbox)
1,537kg (DIN)
1,612kg (EU1)

You are right i got really things mixed up, booze didn't help.

awesum.....finally something worthwhile n special from bmw....

Indeed, it really is special again. This new M4 GTS is a new version of the M3 CSL in the way that it competes with the likes of a Carrera GT, GT3, GT3 RS 4.0, Italia, etc on a track.
It's a whopping 20 seconds faster than the M3 GTS E92 on the Ring, and might actually beat the 991 GT3 with a skilled driver!

Also, check this diagram, the power curve is lineal like an NA engine. Amazing stuff:

BMW has delivered big time here. Leaves the likes of the AMG GT S in the dust. More of this and we really don't need a supercar, so I hope we'll see a special M2 CSL/GTS too, and not in only 3 years from now.

Also, @Giannis , could you please edit Soup's post in a way so that there aren't as many pics? This isn't a pic thread and the page loads crappy now. Not to mention the cellular costs :(

So, BMW, can I have one of those drivetrains for my 2002 Tii, just for testing and probably never returning?

It's 600 Nm will reduce your 2002 to scrap metal I am afraid :(

Notice the front spoiler lip being able to extend for more downforce:

God I love this car. The standard M4 is already enough to beat a 500 hp C63, and this here is on a whole different level.

Not with 15" wheels it wont. It will however erase all possible tires in no time. The body is sound enough. Hell, I've seen people donning at least 600 in these. But that is of no concern for this thread.

U.S spec seats:

Are the standard seats not allowed in the U.S? Or are the buyers too fat for them?

I think the US did not get the best seats from the E9x and they certainly did not get the Performance ones. Something about airbags and being regulated.

oh man..realy? thas all you have bimmer?
shame...

the C Coupe already in the 'edition 1' package looks waaaay better, sportier and more modern.
I dont even wanna know how the black series will look like :)

i'm not talking about materials, drivign performances (but hey... 3.9, 3.8, 3.7 seconds - who the f* cares? they are all fast), but i'm talking only design language and yeah bimmer IS boring and thats a FACT ! If we only comapre the 'new' 7er with the W222...jesus...the 7er looks almost the same as the old model. I'm realy asking myself where is the beautines of some E38 (for example) going? i was a big fan of bimmers in the 90's, but now they are fully sleeping...

Nurburgring lap times:

M3 CSL: 7:50 min
M3 GTS: 7:48 min
M4 GTS: 7:28 min

Currently there's only 28 cars faster than the M4 GTS on the Ring, and this includes *almost* every car ever made including the 918 Spyder and Radical SR8 and Gumpert Apollo. What an incredible feat, this M4 GTS lifts the whole 3er/4er range to magnificence again.

oh man..realy? thas all you have bimmer?

the C Coupe....

Just stop it lol. Why don't you go back and lick some 3 pointed star like you used to in your avatar?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
