M3/M4 [Official] BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
That's fantastic! Awesome event to look forward too for you :D

Are you considering getting one?

I'll get to see them in a couple of weeks. Hoping for a better turn-out than on the 4-series.

Yes, I am considering getting one and I already have selected the equipment I want on it. I am taking pretty much every single option apart from ceramic brakes. Exterior in Individual Azurit Black and interior in Cohiba Brown - full leather, everywhere.
I will make the final decision after test driving it as I have an option to buy a brand new M5 for a slightly higher price.

The M3 has always been a subtle balance of show - enough to justify the go - rather than an absolute visual proclamation of performance. It's still classy in a mildly aggressive way. But only the true aficionados (and my brainwashed wife) will recognise the four-square stance, wider haunches and proper M-Car adornments.

is m4 lighter?

Its supposed to be 80kg lighter as per previous media reports, but looking at this scale reading of approx. 1615kg, the mass hasn't dropped much, some mag tests such as Autocar and maybe AMS got close to this figure for the E92 M3.

Guys when is the driving review debut for the M3/M4 for the motoring press? Is it this month?

A press review is never late, nor is it early, it arrives exactly when intended.

Press reviews will start to show up on May 9th. Some of us are in Portugal now for the drive and they will continue for the whole month almost. So there will be tons of reviews, videos, photos etc...

I wonder if the lesson is learned from the E92 M3 launch, where dusty Portugeese roads made up for a rather lackluster understeery experience, as reported in initial reviews.

Yes. A car at its launch is never perfect and never is signed off officially at launch. You would be surprised how many cars I have been with on photo shoots that are unfinished at that point. This does not matter because interior shots are filmed within a studio and they use a music soundtrack. Its ample time for the final development phase.
As it stands now the M3 and M4 are at their must optimum don't forget you have seen cars still testing even though they are "official". Every manufacture operates a window period between launch and market introduction to make sure everything is at that time absolutely perfect.

Nice one with Kanye even though by his own doing he has turned into the joke. He has created a creative company that umbrellas music , fashion , advertising etc and has reached out to luxury goods manufacturers and one German manufacturer (not BMW) to provide creative services from his company. And the pitch - "I am Kanye West , the next Steve Jobs and artistic genius." "Hello , Hello click... Brrrrrr"

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
