M2 [Official] BMW M2 Competition

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
Carbon roof is already available on the M2 Competition. And I guess ceramic brakes will be nice and useful on this 450 hp monster.
Yes, but I was pointing out the differences the CF roof will be standard on the M2CS while it’s an option on the M2C and CBB will be optional, but not an option on the M2C.

Integrated front spoiler,Misano Blue option as the lead colour plus you can get to specify Gold rims too. Oh and specific Sport Seats exclusive to the CS.

Man, this will look so frickin' good. I am trying to imagine this in Macau Blue with the gold rims.....mmmmmmm.

Shame the interior dash and tech will be from a 5 year old F2x design and not the fresh new 1er.

Everything else screams buy me and I'd have the Misano blue. But red brake calipers? Much prefer the silver.

Great showing from the M2 a future classic no doubt, but also big up to the Tesla the fact that it’s consistently included in all major performance tests it’s a true statement on the future of cars. I think it will be up to the likes of Porsche and BMW to inject fun into electric cars when the time comes.

Pretty fair review I think, especially about how M car over the years. Just disagree about which is the best sounding M the CSL does sound pretty good but the E60 V10 was in a different level, spine tingling stuff.

The E46 M3 CSL is BMW’s equivalent of the Cayman GT4. I have only driven an E46 once but would love to drive one again. Modern turbo charged cars are too dominated by torque produced.

E46 M3 has more hp per liter than a McLaren F1. It's a legend and one of the cars I liked driving most. So special. Never the CSL sadly...

I do not know how they will be IRL, but in all the possible photos and color settings the wheels of the competition always play against it, it was always more beautiful with those of the normal M2, for some reason these do not fit well, hopefully for the CS change them.

Hats of to Toyota for their brilliant chassis tuning. It goes to show how much potential the B58 and ZF8 have in the right car.

However, both cars will be out of the spot light in 6-8 months time when the new M3/M4 can be purchased for not little more than the price of the Supra.

M2 CS details from the private preview event held in Belgium yesterday:
  • 450 hp
  • Manual gear box, DKG optional
  • Adaptive suspension
  • Red caliper sport brakes, carbon ceramic optional
  • 763 M wheel gold or black, regular or sport cup tires,no change in tire size
  • Carbon fiber parts: hood, roof, outside mirrors, trunk lip, front spoiler lip, rear diffuser, central console, door handle
  • Chrome m2 cs badge on the trunk
  • Alcantara on side of the seats and doors like on the M2C, additional alcantara on top of the central console and on the dash board (ipo of the regular or carbon trim). CS embroied on the alcantara dashboard trim
  • Alcantara steering wheel optional
  • M4 Competition seats with red stitching and I believe Merino leather (for sure not Dakota). Dashboard and top door panel remain same than on the M2C and therefore imo do not blend well with the finer grain leather
  • M Performance exhaust
  • Back seats cannot be folded anymore
  • 4 paints only : Alpine White,Misano Blue,Hockenheim Silver and Saphire Black
  • Apparently no claim by BMW of any weight saving
  • Climate control unit seems a little bit different than on my late 2018 M2C
  • Start of Production : 3/2020
  • End of Production : 12/2020 i.e 9 months production only
  • 2200 cars worldwide, 100 for Benelux
  • No word of a possible CSL version after (believe they were clueless more than trying to hide anything)

Was definively not convinced by the combo blue paint /gold wheel/red caliper. Others combo should work better. Also think the large mesh of the carbon roof does not look that nice. The dome of hood is not very noticeable although there is first a side recessed part than an elevation (may be this was due to the light of the room or the paint)

Should definitely be a great car but the base price is high (95 K Euro in Belgium) considering that it is mainly M performance and M4 competition bit and pieces added. Does not really feel unique.

M8 competition in frozen blue was also on display in the adjacent show room. Looks great but it is a big car.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
