3 Series (F30) [Official] BMW F30 3-Series LCI [2015-2019]

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the F30 (sedan version), F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China. For this generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate. It was succeeded by the G20 3 Series, and the G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: October 2011 – October 2018
A nice albeit subtle interior "refresh".

To me, no other sedan in the brands' line-up embodies traditional BMW "values" more compellingly than the 3 series. While larger than its' predecessor with dimensions approaching those of the E39 5 series, it remains a crisp and visually as well as functionally agile automobile. I like its' somewhat nonconformist "high" greenhouse, although I am a fan of the broad-shouldered, shallow-glassed theme that is becoming en vogue in larger sedans. It works well on the F30/F31 and distinguishes it from its' German rivals.

Fine car. And one that I personally prefer vis-a-vis M-Bs' C-Class-which has a stellar interior and is otherwise a very good automobile. But I don't really enjoy looking at it. And Audis' upcoming A4 successor has me expecting something handsome and of the highest quality-but exceedingly evolutionary in character and simply not that inspiring.

Not that it matters much but are the rear indicators also led?
Front indicators on full led are they in the brow or on the outer side as on the 4er and f20 LCI?

Was hoping for lower consumtion on the 320i. Audis new engine presented today promises 190 ps / 320 Nm and below 5l/100 km.
320i is 5,5, thats 10% higher which is quite much.
Though IRL I am not worried the difference will be big or even in the Audis advantage but company car policys and taxes look at the official value...

Rear lights are full LED including blinkers and brake lights. Front indicators are indeed in the brow

As far as I know the rear indicators are also LED.
The front indicators are in combination with LED headlights in the brows. :)

@klier: this time you were faster. :)

^Looks like a leather dashboard. That's very nice.

Yup, even that vertical flap is leather now

The leather dashboard was a speccable option before the LCI.

Do we see the M3 completion package today as well?

I suspect that will come in two weeks at the M Festival, along with the M4 GTS.

I was, but with Betty's dislike it looks much more serious :(

Ah yes. Even though you posted it, without any smilies, it's actually MY fault because I disliked it.

I know. There are big changes underneath the bonnet

Not if you buy the 320d. That was updated pre-LCI to the B47D20O0.

So what engine is in the 330i? BMW Blog says it's 184hp, but that can't be right.

2016 BMW M3 Sedan With Minor Updates Debuts As Well

Joining the rest of the facelifted 2016 BMW 3-Series saloon and Touringrange is the subtly updated (and that's an understatement) M3 high-performance sedan.
2016MY, the M3 keeps the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six with 425hp (431PS) and 406 lb-ft (550Nm) of peak torque gaining newly designed full-LED rear lights, some better quality chrome highlights inside and BMW's latest-generation Navigation system Professional with LTE.

They also added two new BMW Individual metallic exterior paints, the Smoked Topaz and Champagne Quartz in addition to the existing Tanzanite Blue and Azurite Schwarz metallic colors in the Individual range.

That's all we have for now, but BMW should release more info and pictures, including pricing, over the next few weeks.

Fair enough.

Now, about the rear indicators and brake lights. I'm not saying I don't believe you Klier, but I've only seen a few photos and they still look like bulbs rather than LEDs. Tell me I'm wrong.
It says this in the press release. Lots of LED words but LED blinkers?

  • New halogen headlight design with LED daytime running lights
  • Full LED headlights now an option (standard on 340i)
  • Headlights have moved further apart
  • Daytime running lights feature upper and lower edge of LED light tubes with LED bar connecting to kidney grille
  • Optional Adaptive Full LED Headlights with Auto High-Beam System
  • Broader side air intakes in front apron
  • New, more intricate styling of central air intake
  • New full LED tail lights
  • LED brake lights

So... BMW has managed to LCI its 3 Series, Merc brought the new C Class, and Audi... Oh Audi, where are you?

I'm slightly disappointed with this LCI, I like the rear lights very much (finally, back in full LED), but the rest of exterior looks... mild, so to say. Like it lost its sharpness, somehow.

The interior still doesn't look to be on par with its rivals.

One has to bear in mind that EVERY SINGLE BMW looks weird in their official photos. Can't wait to see some real life pics.

In everyway the car is and was already perfect it did not need extensive surgery come the facelift. This was a customer request.

All reports mention in combination with LED the headlights, brake lights and tail lights. But rear indicators are not mentioned explicit. It's possible the indicators are excluded.

What made me wonder was just what Just_me linked
...
  • New full LED tail lights
  • LED brake lights
Maybe just rear lights and brake lights.

I liked the side marker in the front on the outer side of the lights instead of in the eye brows. As its been on the e34, e 39, e 46 etc... (of course without led on the old cars).
So if I like that and want a 3er it means now I have to buy the M3 :-D

Saw one of the movies posted above and didn´t se the coronas dim when the turn signal flashed, I have seen cars with that feature and liked it because it easier to see the turn signal.

Was a typo. 330i has 252PS

The leather dashboard was a speccable option before the LCI.

Sorry guys, this facelift is not enough for me to compete with the c-class. Interior looks still the same. Exterior has changed a little, but has not necessarily changed for the better.

This car will have a hard time against C-class/A4 until the G30 is ready.

The 3er has always been the segment benchmark, it did not need drastic surgery so it has the most subtle of changes. But what the 3er customer desires is competency, the ability to do everything day to day in one car.
The C-Klasse may have a nice interior that may mimic the S-Klasse in detail but it is after you sit in the S-Klasse and then return to the C-Klasse that you see the cost-cutting in those details. The update has addressed the 3ers issues and minor ones at that. The C-Klasse still has its Achilles heel such as engines, steering and its transmission in which you can guarantee that BMW has just elevated its best seller even further by focusing on what the customer wanted more than anything else.

The only thing that bothers me of this LCI is the inner corona ring. They have used two pieces instead of one. Taking into account how well crafted the realights graphics are, this does not make much sense IMO.

The entry-level 318i is now equipped with a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine developing 136 PS (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). It will do the sprint in 8.9 seconds and hit a maximum speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).

These are the numbers of the current 316i, yet it came with a 1.6T engine. At least in Greece.

Are they planning a new 316i with even less power?

I have understood the new design of the corona rings in this way that now not only the headlights are connected with the kidneys but now the light itself too.

I hope I have understood your post in correct way. :)
