X5 [Official] BMW (E70) X5 Facelift

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Easily the best car in its class. Such a superb vehicle. Really big fan of that new colour as well...

I'm with Klier. I don't like the X6 one bit. It has its merits, but I just find the X5 design to be better resolved, obviously due to the classic SUV design, and it's far more practical and rides much better. The handling trade off is negligible in my eyes because I would never buy an SUV to hit corners at speed.

Given the X5 are more practical and I myself find the design best of ALL SUV's, the X6 seen in the context of SAC gave me personally best of both worlds in terms of value for money. I adore coupè' and SUV - best compromise made by my all time favourite brand BMW was the SAC X6;)

Now just because you do not like the X6 I hope we beat you in every Rugby match in the Super 14 series:D

I should have made it more clear, I do like the X6, it looks ridiculously outrageous on the road compared to almost everything else around it, but I just don't see it as a good buy in my own opinion, compared to the X5 - a personal favourite. I would much rather BMW had released the CS concept instead of the X6, but can't always get what we want :D

I haven't been a Super 14s game for along time, I might try and make a game this season! The Reds seem to be back on track with the new coach.

Yes, the X6 has huge presence on the road. Just goes to show that every niche has it's buyer i.e. the 5 ser GT will have it's buyers too. I would give my front tooth for BMW to manufacture the CS!:t-cheers:

Yes, the Reds looks to becoming one of the favourites this season - on our side it will be the Blue Bulls IMO, 99% of the team are Springboks:usa7uh:

Well, I do like the X6 too, but the 5er GT looks better than the X6 to me. More modern and bold...
See my reply on 'niche' i.e. 5 ser GT to potential...

Though I have my personal taste/reasons for my liking in the X6, strangely I must admit I am very attracted to the 5 GT. The balance of the whole concept is perfect!

I´m with klier too, imho: X5>5er GT>>X6

Iloved the X6 when it was realised, but with the time, and having seen docens of them in Puerto Banus, I think I got bored of them, the X5 instead is such a classic. I know a guy who lives a few strees next to me and owns a X5 3.0 sd with the M pack in dark blue and is stunning, much better looking than any X6 to me.

IMO the rear lights look less evil and mean than the ones on the current model. The rest looks pretty refreshing and what I like the most about this facelift is the elimination of the plastic parts which was by far the weakest part of the original version.

Anyway, do you guys know if it'll be possible to upgrade the pre-facelift model to this one? By that I mean changing the front and rear lights and installing the new iDrive? :eusa_thin

Miami, Florida hosted the International Media Launch of the 2010 BMW X5 LCI, short for Life Impulse Cycle or facelift. During a one day event, several automotive journalists had the opportunity to spend some time with the new X5 xDrive35i, both in a city environment and off-road.
While our full test drive review is still in works, we thought we would share with you some photos from this event, portraying the X5 LCI in different situations, some quite extreme. As some of you might recall, the 2010 BMW X5 follows the path of its “brother”, the X6, by introducing turbocharged engines in the North American line-up.

I went to the dealer today to check out the new X5. Looks beautiful in person. Love the new 335 wheels.

I looked at the headlights and they are not the ones shown in press release with white coronas.

I ask the dealer and he called BMWNA office and said that is what you get for US version. US buyers don't get LCI headlights, they get the same old pre-LCI headlights.

Anyone know why no white LEDs for US? :t-banghea
