TT Official: Audi TT-RS

So what exactly is standard on US spec TT RS that is not on US spec 1M?

All equipment aside, we dont want to add to much weight on the car, its two sportscar we are discussing, not boulevard cruisers. How much for Cayman R?

The equippment doesn't comprise preformance. As for the Cayman I've seen a few in the dealers in the high 70's,Porsche does't offer packages, they nickle, and dime for everything.

All the extra options people pay for are not necessary, they are just being comfy and lazy these days. Save some money and only get what you actual need.
Anyway, TT-RS seem to be a better deal than and TT-S but still its a hefty price for a small car like TT-RS. Makes you wonder how much you would pay for a RS5.

Sorry, screaming doesn't make it any more factual. Nav is not standard on TTS, it is part of the prestige package which costs $3300 or a $2000 stand alone option. Just like Nav is part of $2700 comfort package for 1M. Heck, nav is not even standard on $115k R8 4.2.

I was reffering to the prestige model:t-banghea My dealer told the prestige package would be the only version offered.

Just how sat nav,and B&O are standard on the R8 V10,so will the TTRS offer it as standard(except the B&O of course.

Call it "model" or "package", on TTS it is not standard and not part of the base MSRP. May be it will be for TT RS, maybe it won't, my point is no one knows for a fact what is included in the base MSRP of $56k.

No they are necessary, but people want those options included, which is why most of the cars in the delears include them.

My dealer told me it will the be options offered on prestige models as standard.

After reminding that when we state that something is indeed a fact, we better be 120% sure that it is a fact, or we prove ourselves as completely uninformed and in some cases as stubborn as a man can get, let's stay on topic please!

:t-cheers:

Bieng that it was directed at me,I got conformation from my dealer just a couple hours ago. I'm going by what I was told. As for the price a standard tt is more expensive than a 1 series, so the more preformance oriented version would naturally follow suite

Official: 2012 Audi TT RS priced from $56,850

Audi has finally released U.S. pricing on the company's 2012 TT RS. Buyers looking to jump into the 360-horsepower coupe can plan on handing over $56,850 (*plus any applicable destination charges) for the pleasure of ownership. That pricing scoots the mean little Audi well under the Porsche Cayman S at $62,100, though the topless Boxster S narrows that gap somewhat with a price tag of $58,600. Of course, both of those lithe sports cars are down by about 50 ponies compared to the new Quattro terror, which helps give the edge from stop light to stop light. The German automaker says that the 2012 TT RS can scoot to 60 mph in a scant 4.1 seconds.

That's moving right along, especially considering that the BMW 1 Series M Coupe does the same sprint in 4.7 seconds. It's also about $1,600 cheaper, but who's counting? For comparison's sake, the 265-hp TTS starts at $47,000, itself already a big leap over the $38,300 base 211-hp TT.

Audi announces pricing for 2012 MY TT RS

• Introduction of TT RS marks the much anticipated return of the RS nameplate to U.S.
• TT RS fitted with a manual transmission and the award-winning, powerful 2.5 Liter TFSI® turbo-charged five-cylinder engine

Audi of America today announced pricing for the much anticipated Audi TT RS. The 2012 TT RS is the pinnacle of the TT model line, and signifies the return of the RS nameplate to the U.S. The RS nameplate represents the highest performance category for Audi vehicles, and reflects the technical competencies gained through Audi motorsports successes. The Audi TT RS will be priced at $56,850 (excluding destination charges, taxes, title, options and dealer charges).

The Audi TT RS is powered by the award-winning 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder TFSI engine that generates 360 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque between 1,650 and 5,400 rpm for power on demand. All engine components have been designed to cope with extreme loads and the demands of a thoroughbred sports engine. Forged six-bearing crankshaft, weight optimized connection rods, sodium cooled exhaust valves and lightweight pistons with specifically adapted ring assembly are indicative of the elements engineered into the TT RS.

The combination of FSI® injection and a high-efficiency turbocharger result in optimum combustion, superior power and rapid buildup of boost pressure even at low speeds. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and quattro® all-wheel drive is standard. An automatic transmission is not available for the TT RS. The Audi TT RS accelerates from 0 - 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds, making it the fastest in its class.

Audi magnetic ride is standard on the TT RS, which allows the suspension characteristic to be actively altered; the driver benefits as the system constantly adapts to the current driving situation. A sport mode stiffens the magnetic ride, enhances throttle responsiveness, and activates a more striking engine sound via flaps in the exhaust system.

The aluminum and steel hybrid ASF® technology also found on the TT and TTS models, reduces weight while helping increase rigidity and safety. The coupe space frame is made up of 69% aluminum and 31% steel which makes it 48% lighter than a full steel frame. The ASF technology allows the TT RS to weigh a respectable 3,306 lbs. The Audi TT RS offers excellent aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.32 due to its optimized silhouette and smooth vehicle underbody.

The Audi TT RS features exclusive design elements denoting its special place at the top of the TT model line. The high gloss black diamond-patterned Singleframe® grille and large front air inlets give notice of the vehicles performance, as does the fixed rear wing spoiler that provides increased down force. Oval exhaust pipes, rear diffuser, unique 19" rotor wheels, prominent body sills and exterior mirror housings in matte aluminum finish round out the RS-specific design elements.

The interior of the Audi TT RS also features RS-exclusive appointments, such as the contoured 3-spoke sport multifunction steering wheel, aluminum door sills with the RS logo, and RS-specific interior door handles. Other interior features include 10-way power sport front seats with three-step heating, leather seat coverings, brushed aluminum interior inlays, and available LED ambient lighting.

The Audi TT RS offers electronic features one expects from Audi, including Audi concert radio with single CD player and MP3 reading capability, and AM / FM / SAT radio with a complimentary 3-month subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. Available advanced electronics offer an increased level of sophistication for the premium sports car, including technologies like Audi navigation plus with real time traffic, MMI® inspired controls, a BOSE® sound system, and Audi music interface.

The 2012 Audi TT RS is a unique car that will appeal to Audi enthusiasts and performance vehicle purists alike. The Audi TT RS goes on sale this summer.

So does that mean nav is not standard?

For me personally, I do not car for the Nav. What does interest me more is that the TT RS comes with Magnetic Ride as standard. It makes me wonder if BMW, had they anticipated the positive reaction to the 1M, might have offered a version of the M3's EDC for the 1M and simply recouped costs through larger sales volume. According to the UK tests, the 1M does well enough on very demanding roads w/o adjustable suspension, but it would be nice to be able to choose the best setup for a particular type of surface rather than to live with just a versatile (but still compromised) setting.

BTW, MSRP on the 1M is $46,135. Cheaper than the TT RS for sure, but I would not say the Audi is overpriced at this point. It still has a lot to offer.

The salesman at my dealer said the prestige would be the only version,he told me the titanium package would be an option as well, and he's normally on point. As for the magnectic ride that's definitly standard on the TTS on both the premium plus, and prestige package. The 1m might be cheaper, but the TTRS still offers more horses, and is nearly a second faster to 60.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
