A6/S6/RS6 [Official] Audi RS6 Avant

It's interesting why VAG is keeping the RS6 a bit restrained. The V8 can be much punchier as the version in the URUS keeps showing - the URUS is easily outperforming the X5 M, which has the same engine as the M5.

Pointless comparison to be honest. If Audi is restraining the RS6 per your idea, my counterpoint would be that BMW has a restrained engine in your X5 M vs Urus comparison.

Back on topic.... great turnaround for the RS6. Redemption time, and better late than never.

I do agree about the RS 6 having a restrained engine. The RS 6 GT is supposed to have around ~700hp from what we've heard.

Very concerned for the RS 7 Avant if it switched to a V6 PHEV combo. Somehow going to be heavier I bet, without meaningful power gains. Might be a case like the C63, where's it's better to just stick with the RS 6 E-Tron Avant.

Seems similar to what BMW is going to do with the next M5. Lots of PHEV tech for gains that could easily be obtained with just a meaty V8.
And all will add tons of complications and hundreds kg extra kilos.....

At least the M5 will still have a V8.

It's completely silly when the average CO2 must be dropping like crazy with all these EV models they now have on sale, and the amount of RS/M/AMG being sold (not many)

Yeah, it's a good thing BMW is keeping the V8.

But these weight gains and electrical complexity across the board are just not any good. They're becoming less and less rich enthusiast cars, and more "disposable" cars for rich people to get rid of quickly.

You'll notice them putting massive brakes for the weight (expensive maintenance) and more common usage of semi-slick tires to support the weight for fast numbers.. cost of consumables getting very high.

Believe it or not, but I see a ton of old E39 M5s and the "notorious" E60 M5s still on the road (my friend has one original motor with over 215k miles currently), as well as lots of 204 AMGs, E46 M3s, and E90 M3s on the road with over 130-150k miles (here in SoCal)... I genuinely cannot see these new-era PHEV Performance models lasting that long.

Working at an Audi dealer, the amount of normal A4/5/6 etc I see get safety/drive/starter system malfunctions (don't even know what that means, but get so many of them under 10k miles) and electronical issues on a 5+ year old MLBevo platform still, the Q7s having 360 camera issues as well as the drive malfunctions, the 55 TFSI A6/7 having starter problems, RS6/RS7 also having starter/alternator problems... All of these problems are just going to balloon even more in the PHEV era where I just can't imagine these cars making it to over 100k miles problem free. BMW seems to not be having problems with their CLAR models, only heard of some major electrical problems on their X5s/X7s and 7er/i7.

Sorry, went off on a bit of a rant there.

Long story short, these PHEV performance models are going to be all about straight line speed, flashyness, and easily disposable IMO, there won't be much justification to keep them past a leasing period unlike the previous performance cars, especially with how problematic they may be and cost to maintain.

Just got around to watching this.

DAMN, the RS 6 launches so aggressively now with the Performance Package. Can't hold up to the M5's never ending top-end performance though of course.

Well strictly speaking it's the first to 70MPH as you're not by law allowed to go higher. So it's all good.

However I remember that guy that took one to or just over 200MPH indicated here, and he recorded it! -I never did find out what happened to him.🤔

It's two lighter sedans v a heavier estate. Would have been interesting if they had used the RS7 presumably lighter than the RS6 Avant, or M5 and E63 Touring models.

It doesn't matter much, because both - the M5 and the E AMG 63 are not available on the market in this generation anymore. AUDI will have a comfortable year or so of being the only one on the market.

I've seen quite a number of cars today. Including an Audi RS6.

The one I saw definitely had an exhaust upgrade and it was as Nico Rosberg always every two minutes in his videos sick!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
