R8 [Official] Audi R8 V10

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG in 2006. Production ended in the first quarter of 2024. Production: June 2006 – March 2024 (45,949 Units), Model years: 2007–2024
Yupp. I missread it:

The Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro rockets from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.9 seconds. In the version with the sequentially shifting R tronic it reaches 200 km/h (124.27 mph) in another 8.1 seconds. Even then its propulsive power hardly lessens: it’s sufficient to reach a top speed of 316 km/h (196.35 mph). The immense force, the spontaneity and the thrust of the acceleration, plus the sound of the engine – all these impressions coalesce into a breathtaking sports car experience. The V10 plays a concert with growling bass tones and powerful high notes, which grows into a grandiose fortissimo as the engine revs up. This sonorous acceleration doesn’t reach its limit until 8,700 rpm.

Meaning 0-200 in 12 seconds.

Still, mighty impressive! :usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

3.9 + 8.1 is 12.0 seconds to 200km/h. That's not bad either!
And yeah, the rpm are crazy. 700 more than the LP-560

So the question is, who in his right mind would choose Lambo over it? :D

I know i wouldn't, not in a million years.;)

:t-cheers:

Yeah, people buy cars like R8 / R10 for motoring excitements. Sure.

Eg. in my town I know for 3 R8: one is owned by a lawyer, the other by a real-estate business owner, the third one is owned by an owner of an investment fund. They use the cars for daily driving around the town ... posing. Since if they drive over the speed limits, they are fined. 130km/h on Highway it is. 50km/h or less in the city. Some city roads - 70km/h.

I hardly call that a motoring.

While the guy who bought an SLR hardly drives it - he keeps it in a locked garage as a collector item. Motoring? I don't think so. Nor Paris Hilton do any motoring in her SLR.

Most people buy such cars for posing ... they just like them being flashy & über-expensive. That's all they care. They enjoy being watched, and enjoy looking by-passers drolling over their fancy cars.

It's more about Lookatming than Motoring. :usa7uh:

:t-hands: ????????? :t-hands:

Tell me more about that "function" of a V10 525HP mid-engined sports car.

Oh man:eusa_doh::eusa_doh:

How about track fun days where u take ur precious dream machines for some hardcore driving, isn't that what BMW M owners supposedly do?!

Man IMO u are just being stubborn and redneck here,a lot of fancy cars owners do drive their cars hard and a lot just for pure fun and pleasure not just for car collecting,i see a lot of fast cars goin nutts on freeways and even in town late at night, right or wrong i know if i could afford one i'd do the same. The fun, euphoria and adrenaline rush is jut worth every moment of it:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Me neither :) As exclusive the Lambo is, the R8 is even more!

Note that they keep the same distance to 100 as to 200 (3.7 vs 3.9 - 11.8 vs 12.0). Interesting how it goes 200-300!

Man IMO u are just being stubborn and redneck here...

No one is redneck here, Tarek, especially not because of voicing his/her opinion, so please, we don't like to give red and yellow cards, no insults will be tolerated.

Feel free to disagree, but don't insult. OK?

Now, let's all stick to the subject and enjoy this wonderful machine.

I would. All I see for the R8 is a fancy pressrelese right now. LP560 has already proven what its capable in various tests. And the engine sound is to die for. I also think the Gallardo looks better.

Do you know another car that have gotten so much positive feedback as the R8 V8 did? I don't. I think that the V10 will be just as good!

The new Nissan GTR? :D
I know the R8 got some positive reviews, probably chocked people since they never expected Audi would build a car like that. But again, I want some real life tests first and independent numbers.

Yes, 1% or less buyers go on a track - if there is one available. The vast majority just buy such cars for posing.

Very nice. To me that's analog to people who see excitement (euphoria & adrenaline rush) in raping, molesting, abusing, torturing, killing, etc. :eusa_thin

So does that mean only 1% of M owners goes to track?;)

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
