Q7 [Official] Audi Q7

What an outstanding engine this is!! Finally, e-turbo is in production! BMW and MB are eclipsed by this diesel! It's obviously coming to the next panamera and cayenne..

I remember one test from this model as disguised prototype. Audi's engineers had this prototype and one X5 M and they did one acceleration test in a road. I don't know if the tester driver that was driving in the X5 M didn't want accelerate more but the prototype from SQ7 got a significant distance, it was faster.

EDIT: Sorry, were the mule from SQ7 and X5 M50D. I just to find the shots.

I upload one shot...

Very impressive engine - hot-side inside turbocharging on a diesel is a first in its own right, let alone the adoption of an electric compressor. In addition we see the implementation of a 48 Volt electrical system for the first time in production vehicle.

Big news! Quite easily the next biggest step in diesel technology has just happened very quietly amidst the hullabaloo of Geneva. Strange.

If the engine is inside something like an R8 then it will receive more attention. Almost nobody is paying attention to this SQ7, especially when it looks like the standard Q7.

Spectacular engine, something I would have expected from BMW first to be honest. This is moving the game forward, and makes the Q7 even more desireable. Fantastic SUV, I´ve made a complete 180 on this one!

Agreed- usually BMW seems to debut cutting edge engine tech first even if it's not fully baked. Disagree on the 180 on this car though, still can't deal with the exterior. Impressive overall though!

Thanks Betty. Can you give us your impression on it's drive? Is it's comfort comparable with the A8 or even S-klasse? Did the radar cruise function well?

It didn't have radar cruise.

I did like the virtual cockpit. Very useful.

The ride wasn't as good as the S-Class, but then what is? I was very impressed though. Comfortable. It was a great way to travel over 1,600km. Although typical Audi, some of the functionality was poor. For example, on the sat nav, the previous night I inputted the destination and then switched the car off ready for the next day, and when I got in I had to input the destination again. That doesn't happen in my BMW for example.

The ambient lights look very cool at night. One of the best I've seen.

Even after all these years Alpha Jet still looks gorgeous! It's only two years younger than me!

SQ7 - can't put my finger on it but somehow it looks good, despite the fact that the regular Q7 doesn't to my eyes.

Perhaps you can see through the fugly exterior and look at those electric turbos?

Q7 is one of the most soulless premium cars / SUVs I've ever seen & experience in my life. It's almost too clinical in every aspect: looks, drive, comfort, dynamics. All done well but with absolutely no excitement whatsoever. No emotions evoked when engaged with this vehicle. Sadly. It's a great car with almost no flaws ... but f...g clinical & boring. OK, there were emotions ... I was ... angry. I rally hope other future Audis won't be that clinical!

Yea like I said, I made a 180 with this car. Just very solid looking when I see it on the roads.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
