Q7 [Official] Audi Q7

That happens when a heavy pig is performing a high speed cornering ... and the electronic driving aides fail for some reason and don't kick in @ the point they should. "Boink!" indeed.

Just a cruel reminder how nowadays driving dynamics completely depends on (driving aid) electronics. Especially when it comes to big, heavy vehicles like SUVs. Scary!

This is certainly not an example of electronic aids failing and not kicking in. This a classic illustration of physics overcoming the electronic stability systems' ability to sort the problem out. Like I always say: when the stakes are high, Sir Isaac trumps Sir Thomas every time.

Martin, are you trying to say such severe & uncontrollable understeer is normal on an AWD vehicle? Despite being a heavy vehicle turning into corner @ high speed. Or is this just an Audi-specific thing? I've never seen Cayenne or X5M/X6M understeering as much on the Ring. It's weird ...

Yip @EnI - a classic case of momentum overcoming grip. AWD, fancy shmancy suspension, electronic aids. Too fast is too fast and boink is boink.

So either this Audi test driver is extremely lame - cornering @ such high speed. And Porsche, BMW & Range Rover test drivers are much better (coming slower into the corners). Or perhaps X5/X6, Cayenne, RR Sport chassis is much more capable than Q7 chassis. ;)

The likelihood is that the driver pushed a little too hard and this is the result - small degrees of errors can have such an effect.

And Porsche, BMW & Range Rover test drivers are much better (coming slower into the corners).

You'll be surprised but most of these drivers are pretty good so again the degree of difference would be surprisingly small.

Or perhaps X5/X6, Cayenne, RR Sport chassis is much more capable than Q7 chassis. ;)

If perhaps the Q7 would weigh 100 kg more than its competitors then all chassis created equal would be compromised in this manner.

I really like the new Q7, the Interior is great.
Previous Q7 was ugly, awful, like a big Guinea pig, this new one is light.

Who just told Betty in another thread during an exchange regarding the word "copy" (I believe) that this wasn't English class!

Too funny.

Purported Audi SQ7 snapped testing in India for the first time – Spied

While the new Audi Q7 test mule seen in these images may appear similar to previous spyshots, a key detail indicates this to be the performance-oriented SQ7, which is yet to make its international debut. What differentiates the SQ7 prototype from the regular Q7 test mule is the quad-exhaust system, which is also seen on international prototypes.

As part of Audi’s global testing program, the company is testing its new models, including the forthcoming 2016 A4, on Indian roads. While the SQ7 has not been announced for India yet, the new Q7 is reported to launch in the country towards the end of this year. Where Audi’s S-range of models generally feature high-performance petrol engines, the SQ7 is reported to get a V8 turbo-diesel engine with an electric turbocharger with a power output of about 400 bhp. The engine in question could be a 4.2-liter unit, reports say.

The SQ7 would accelerate from 0-100 km/h in about 5.5 seconds, before hitting a top-speed in the region of 300 km/h. The Porsche Cayenne would be the SQ7’s closest diesel-powered competitor, while other rivals will include the Mercedes GL63 AMG, the BMW X5M and the Range Rover Sport fitted with the 5.0-liter supercharged V8.

I have always been a 5-GT fan and think that the Q7 makes the 5-GT look even better.

Power upgrades in the works

ABT Sportsline is one of the first tuners to try and improve the 2015 Audi Q7's appearance.

The new Q7 has been criticized by some for looking like a jacked-up allroad model and for those who are not too fond of the standard appearance, ABT has just the right cure as they have prepared a mild styling program. Billed as the "QS7", the package encompasses a redesigned front skirt and new door strip attachments, as well as fender inserts along with a rear skirt set and a new menacing quad exhaust setup.

ABT is also providing a rear wing and an optional wide body kit meant to turn the Q7 into an "emperor of the motorway" thanks to beefy front and rear fender extensions. There's also a custom 22-inch alloy wheel set on offer combined with 305/30 R22 tires while power packages are currently in the works.

At this point, anything looks better than the standard car.

I have always been a 5-GT fan and think that the Q7 makes the 5-GT look even better.

No the 5er GT is an excellent car. It provides the middle ground between the 5er and 7er but completely distinguished that it is not a 5er.
As everything, appearance, luxury and ambience straddles the 5er and 7er but still provides individuality and a more premium feel than a 5er. Without totally eclipsing the 7er.
The next one is going to be brilliant, again ambience is a top priority and there is further additions to weight reduction even with the Carbon Core, especially around the tailgate area.

But having seen a few Q7s around Munich it does not get prettier. It makes you think if this design was chosen to spite. The Volvo XC90 is a totally different story that is very impressive.
Even more so is the development back story "Here is the budget go create" rather than interference which sums up the design of the Q7 - it has to be the same but different here, here and there.

I think he was just making last minute changes to make it look better for production...

OT I know and apologise for bringing the 5GT to this thread, yet I feel the 5GT provides the best middle-ground yet in the crossover luxury segment and does polarise the awkward new Q7 even more + Can't wait for the next GT!!!:t-woohoo:

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
