e-tron [Official] Audi e-tron

The Audi e-tron is a series of electric and hybrid cars shown by Audi from 2009 onwards. In 2012 Audi unveiled a plug-in hybrid version, the A3 Sportback e-tron, released to retail customers in Europe in August 2014, and slated for the U.S. in 2015. A decade after the unveiling of the first e-tron concept at the 2009 International Motor Show Germany, Audi's first fully electric e-tron SUV went into production in 2019.
I said in my part of Norway, which is Møre og Romsdal

So you have published data for this part you can share? TIA.

When you look at the statistics for OctoberTesla sold 121 Model 3's and Audi sold 873 E-trons. The E-tron was the best selling vehicle in October. Paints a different picture when you look at the latest data.

Tesla for whatever reason - guessing limited production capacity/logistics - circulates the allocation across markets by month. So no point looking at monthly data. You have to wait till end of the quarter for quarterly data. You can see the same pattern previous months - July was just ~300 model 3s, Aug ~600 before spiking to ~2400 in the last month of quarter (sept), before falling to 121 in oct. So I wouldn't read anything into Oct number. Wait till end of the quarter to draw any conclusions.

The local newspaper runs the monthly vehicle sales by make and model.

121 is a massive drop in registrations, it's the lowest since the 3 came on sale in Norway. You have to agree for a significantly more expensive vehicle the rise in sales of the E-tron is remarkable. It may end up overtaking the Leaf in total annual sales.

Next year will be interesting with the ID.3 coming onto the market.

You can definitely take a pic and share? Data always appreciated.

121 is an indication of what was left over from the Sept shipment. If they sold most of it in sept, less left over for Oct. It is not like Norway got a new shipment in oct. Wait till end of quarter to get true picture.

I've already thrown away the last paper with this in it but will take a photo of the next graph when it's published.

The E-tron in my part of Norway has outsold Tesla for the past 4 months. The E-tron 50 at a smidge under 500,000 NOK is flying out the showrooms. A Model 3 standard range 2WD is 446,000, so for a smidge more per month they get an Audi.

Tesla is reigning supreme over here. Hardly ever see an E-tron to be honest. Model X, 3 and S are killing it.
In 2019, out of roughly 350 car models tracked, the Model 3 is in the NO 1 spot.

Holland is it's new love now.
I can only imagine what happens when Tesla introduces an Euro style hatchback as a 'car for the wife'......VW will cope probably, but these will be sad times for the likes of Peugeot, Opel, et all.....

It the same in the South East of England. UK Model 3 deliveries only started a few months ago but the number of newely registered Model 3s I see out number the i-Pace and other BEVs.

^ To be fair after looking at the actual number it's only the model 3 right now in Holland, as they didn't move much of the Model X or S in October 2019...

Back to the E-tron, sorry gents.

Interesting video showing the production of the E-tron electric motors. Quite surprised it's still not fully automated production with some human intervention at certain points.

It's quite staggering that the E-tron is the best selling vehicle in Norway at the moment. Sales of the Model S & X have fallen off the cliff, I think a lot of potential Model 3 owners might be waiting for the Y, this is pure speculation on my part.

Here is the year end result for the top 20 models in Norway 2019.

Yes, Teslas' Y should attract many customers here in the EU. Most interesting will be how VWs' I.D. cars, once they resolve those "digital snafus", will fare in the marketplace. I suspect that they will be very successful here in Germany, especially following the passage of the countrys' economic rescue package yesterday. It promises to be quite favorable for e-mobility in general.

Norwegians love the E-tron, there's no doubt about it. Actually considered one myself earlier this year. I went for a test-drive and was quite impressed. The comfort is supreme compared to the Model S. The new Raven has revised suspension which is better, but arguably worse than the E-tron.

The problem with having the E-tron as the only vehicle in the garage is the range and charging network. The car is thirsty AF (and the range of the E50 is laughable given today standards) and the cost pr kWh at ionity is a tough pill to swallow when long-distance travelling. Tesla crushes everyone in this respect.

If you‘re an audi customer you pay something like 29 c...

Ionity's charging model is something like this:
If you have the Transit card you pay a monthly fee @ 20 dollars + 35 cents pr kWh.
If you have the City card your monthly fee is 5-6 dollars + 90 cents pr kWh! Crazy expensive.

With my Model S I pay 18 cents pr kWh. I do 99 % of my driving in the city, so the range is more than enough for me and I rarely supercharge. But I can easily understand why some people are hesitant to move to electric. And with the cost of fast charging... yikes. Well, if one has the money and the patience.....

That’s the advantage of having a garage at home with a charger. I future proofed my garage so when I do buy a BEV I can fit a 32amp 22kW charger.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
