500 winter miles? That's very high requirement and would require an "ideal condition" range of...

Not in Norway they don't.

It's 500km from where I live to Oslo, I want to be able to drive at least this far in winter without having to stop for a recharge. I also want to be able to drive from where I live to the skifield where we ski which is 200km in winter in -0 conditions with a roofbox on the roof, 3 kids and sometimes the dog in the back, drive to the base station and back to the hotel several times then drive back home on a single charge. I also want to be able to tow a trailer, which we do several times per year.

There's only a couple of public charges where we ski, they are almost always in use with cars waiting to charge.

What I really want is an electric A6 Avant quattro with all the good bits like 1200km range and 5 minute refuelling, in a zero emissions vehicle. I'll probably have to wait for the hydrogen H-Tron version to get all that.

How is this the same range as the EQC? Isn't the battery much bigger with 95kWh compared to 80...

Audi have said the range will be higher, they haven't completed the official testing cycle, it will probably be closer to or just over 280 miles.

I like this and the EQC to be honest. I'm not sure which one I like better.

I wonder if there is also luggage space under the bonnet or a dissapointment like the Mercedes...

There is, and funny enough its hidden under what looks like an engine cover. Not very big but its there. Mercedes could've at least done that.

I think it looks good, much better than the Q8 and EQC. But not that blue though. No info on weight and range ?

Super impressed by the technology. The optional side mirrors are just amazing. Much more desirable than the EQC. Attractive looking vehicle.

Also honestly I know you truly hate the EQC @hovabongZA , but I really don't see where this car is dramatically more advanced. I can completely understand the styling preference though.

I like both EQC and this E-tron SUV. However , they are both expensive for the mainstream buyers. If they sell at $45K, then it's a buy. I also think both these German EVs can't beat Tesla in term of range( 300 miles)

Totally agree. I see these as more publicity cars. The range and price aren't super compelling, but that's to be expected with each of these automakers trying their hardest to protect their profit margins. They can't throw caution into the wind like Tesla, so we'll have to wait a while for the truly competitive product to hit the market.

What we do have here though are cars that come from a manufacturer that knows how to properly build a car. I appreciate the proper luxury these cars bring greatly.

Finally, a luxury electric car that I would buy. For me, this is much better than eqc. It has front trunk, flat floor and loads of space in the back which is good for the kids. I only wish it has final real world range close to 500 km. Good job, Audi.

I just watched a vdo and the presenter said that rear leg room is comparable to Q5L which is available only in China. This means it should have rear leg space comparable or even better than that of Q7.

I said more desirable, Don’t hate anything on 4 wheels, but I really think the EQC is really ugly.

Better than the Q5 and EQC but less than the Q7 according to the carwow video.

yes just read and saw same (regarding size comparisons to q5 and q7)... this thing is a huge winner , although that center rear seat seems almost unusable with that massive climate control center in place

I think that the biggest problem is with the poor girls that use to check their make up and hair in the side-mirrors of the parked nearby cars. They will be completely devoid of this opportunity in the future.

The Lexus ES also offers camera side/mirrors .... in the next couple of years it’s going to be the norm.

• E-tron has a larger battery (95kW), yet range is less than the entry level Model X 75D.
• Base configuration e-tron does not include rear airbags (profit??), cold weather package or towing package.
• etron delivery delayed to 2019 - unable to meet timelines as promised.
• Towing capacity is lower than Model X
• 5 seat config vs 7 seat on Model X
• First 2019 e-tron models are more expensive than Model X 75D
• e-tron O-60 sprint in 5.5 sec vs 4.9 sec in Model X 75D

• Audi E tron Drag coefficient with regular mirrors - 0.28
Audi E tron Drag coefficient with cameras - 0.27
Tesla Model X Drag coefficient with regular mirrors - 0.25

• VMax for e-tron limited to 200 kp/h
VMax for Model X is 250 kp/h


Tesla better get their panels gaps together by next year else its game over.
