e-tron GT [Official] Audi e-tron GT

The Audi e-tron GT is a battery electric executive car produced by Audi since late 2020 as part of the e-tron battery electric sub-brand, and the third fully electric car model, after Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback SUVs. It is also Audi's first full-sized electric sedan, and the RS e-tron GT, put on the market in 2021 is, in terms of 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) times, the fastest Audi sedan to date. Based on the J1 platform shared with the Porsche Taycan, the car went on sale in March 2021.

So for all the people on here worrying about the e-trons range or even criticizing all German automakers cause of the estimated range for a single car. Electrek has just posted an article about an independent study comparing the range they could achieve with various BEV‘s in real dricing conditions compared to the EPA range estimates. Almost all cars did much better than their EPA estimates besides Tesla and Polestar.

Quite striking was the Taycan 4S with a range of 323 miles in the test compared to 203 miles according to EPA. Meanwhile the Model S Performance only got 318 miles. So we’re pretty safe to assume that the E-tron GT will have a real world range well above 300 miles, comparable to what a Model S is capable of as that’s what other tests have been indicating too.

Here's a video of a driver in the Netherlands clocking in 617KM / 400 miles on one charge with some battery to spare.

In Netherlands you can't drive faster than 100km/h, hence the high range of Model S.
e-Tron will get similar range at that cruising speed.

Better check the Bjorn's YT for real-life range of EV, not EPA BS.

I actually think it looks pretty good in every spec. Very nice looking car...no bazillion screens too, which is surprising.
Even more surprising when you compare to A6/A8... I would have expected a similar set-up on the EV car. Not that I dislike the e-tron interior... far from it !

best to wait for actual real world testing of the e tron gt before making any final judgements.

The empty space for the rear seats where there should have been a battery - serious case of misplaced product priorities - first get the range to a decent level before worrying rear passenger comfort, especially given the compromised rear space, the proportion of time an adult is going to occupy the rear is going to be miniscule.

There is no one "real life range". It varies based driver, road, traffic, weather. The EPA test is a compromise based on average driving situation in US, Much more scientific and relevant to most people in US than some random youtube dude.

Are you sure that's for the rear seats?

During the day!

Ywp, rear footwell. Its the same on all J1 cars and will probably see the same on the upcoming Electric Bentley.

Weird design decision indeed then. Oh well, they're giving up range for sleekness then it appears.

This year the Model S will start breaking ground into Diesel car terriroty from a range perspective and hypercar terriroty from a performance perspective.

Rubbish. The Model S won't achieve that claimed range and still can't be fully recharged in five minutes. But I assume you have ordered one already, so enjoy yours.

I think it was done intentionally to differentiate comfort from Tesla. Tesla Model 3 and S have a common criticism for not having the most comfortable back seats. Your knees typically sit higher than they would in a conventional car and this can be uncomfortable for rear passengers on long journeys. Given VAG is more focused on comfort as a differentiator, I can see why did that- but yes, at the expense of range.

Sounds like you blew a fuse.Would you like a hug?

Why on earth are you offering him a hug?

If he blew a fuse, what he needs is a new fuse.

Guys, remember that about your future electric cars. If you blew a fuse, you cannot repair it with hugging your BMW steering wheel and whispering "Please turn over and don't let the missus know"

Again, you need to change the fuse.

Oh! You mean metaphorically ! Sorry

I really wonder what difference people expect the e-tron to have from the Taycan in the range department. It's the same car. With the same technology. What Audi did is only change the skin and the interior. It's nothing different than the VW/Skoda/SEAT/AUDI siblings. Same technology, slightly different outer look and interior, just enough to differentiate them. And the additional space for the feet is the same like in the Taycan. It's not a decision of AUDI to sacrifice the range for comfort, it's what they were provided as a platform.

People have to put there feet somewhere. Maybe adults won't sit there very often but if it was my car I have teenagers who would be in the back seat multiple time per week.

A primary forte' of both the Taycan and eTron GT is the ability to convey as well as embody a "statement". In the case of the Taycan, its' manufacturers' brand equity is so lofty that this alone will (and has) drawn flocks of eager takers wielding their wallets. Being perceived as "stunning...beautiful...gorgeous...cool" by many is a significant motivation leading to ownership as well. Range (apparently far better than that rated by agencies-yet still in need of considerable improvement) becomes a criteria subordinate to the aforementioned attributes.

And to a similar extent, this applies to the Taycans' sister car, the eTron GT. While Audi certainly doesn't boast the brand equity of its' Zuffenhausen sibling, it is (at least in the EU anyway), a brand that caters to the design affine. It's no big feat to predict that a good number of architects, industrial designers, elevated fashion industry professionals and top-level IT professionals will be filling eTron GT order files. These professionals have traditionally been frequent Audi customers over the course of the past 25+ years.

Sure, the Tesla S offers some compelling advantages in terms of space, range, speed and price. And it is an automobile that is pleasant to behold as well (great job courtesy of Mr. von Holzhausens' team). Yet somehow, I don't really see these cars as being genuinely head-on competitiors. Actually, they should be able to coexist in a discerning marketplace.

Oh, for you guys who are not convinced with the E-Tron GT,

An even more desirable variant of it is in the pipeline.

Do you guys really think Audi won't make a Sportback version of the Taycan Turismo ?

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
