The All-new Mercedes-AMG SL (R232)

Almost 70 years ago, a sports car launched in Stuttgart immediately became a legend. The vision of expanding the potential of the Mercedes-Benz brand through motor racing successes produced the first SL as a result - a road-going racing sports car. Shortly after its début in 1952, the 300 SL (internal designation W 194) reaped success after success on the race tracks of the world. In its first year, it achieved, among other things, a spectacular one-two victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and even took the first four places in the Nürburgring Grand Jubilee Prize for sports cars. Its successes quickly make the SL a legend.

The SL and AMG GT interior quality is bang on par if not better than most cars at their price point. At least here in the Australian market. IMO It's the lack of customisation across the SL and GT range, in some pretty big global markets, that one of the issue when it comes to the interior finishes.
I was going to say that the 232 SL55 and 63 I sat in and drove were surprisingly solid with good materials, much better than the C/GLB/GLC-Class loaners I receive. The SL definitely deserves a multitude of customization options, but with sales not meeting expectations, Mercedes probably feels it is not worth it.

It seems to be a great car, but overpriced, and in a dying segment. Then again it’s prolly a confusing car for a lot of buyers.

It's actually a fantastic product poorly positioned. Also, as stunning as the overall car is, the A class face does not help in the prestige stakes.

Hopefully Mercedes understands the shuffling around they need to do with the SL and GT come FL.

The face is perfect, they’ll ruin it if it changes. It just needs more MANUFAKTUR options to differentiate from the average Mercedes.

Price reduction
I6 base model and cheaper than the I4
Manufaktur options same as G and S

Maybe a total repositioning of the model. Back to SL500, SL580, SL63 etc.

The SL doesn’t have the clout to command its current prices imo. Mercedes has got to humble itself here and pivot if they want this car to survive.

The face is changing. The angularity of the headlights are out of step with every other high end Mercedes.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the taillights tinkered with too.

I hope one day the European SL 232 design proposal emergers. Just out of curiosity.

True a base M256 EVO equipped $100,000 SL450/500 would do. SL580 should have the non-AMG M177 EVO from FL S-class, priced around $120,000. The SL63 should be maximum $160,000 their pricing is absurd lately.
