The All-new Mercedes-AMG SL (R232)

Almost 70 years ago, a sports car launched in Stuttgart immediately became a legend. The vision of expanding the potential of the Mercedes-Benz brand through motor racing successes produced the first SL as a result - a road-going racing sports car. Shortly after its début in 1952, the 300 SL (internal designation W 194) reaped success after success on the race tracks of the world. In its first year, it achieved, among other things, a spectacular one-two victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and even took the first four places in the Nürburgring Grand Jubilee Prize for sports cars. Its successes quickly make the SL a legend.

The I6 is the solution. I would bet the SL43 is replaced by an I6 “53” model soon.

It’s a mystery to me why Mercedes would give CLE an I6 engine and stick the SL with a four-pot. Imagine having an entry level AMG SL with the engine from CLE 53! It would be a winner and not that much of a compromise for buyers to go with.

Maybach SL leak!

They do realize that the SL is not really selling right? Is there even a market for one of these? Being a Maybach will it be silent or will it have an AMG bark?

Why? They did the same treatment with the S-Class Coupe back then. They are just giving it another shot.

It just looks so tacky with all the Maybach logo's. There is nothing elegant about this.
Most of these Uber luxo cars are not elegant. Nobody buys a Rolls Royce for understated luxury. You get a Rolls or a Bentley or a Maybach so you have a 6-meter long ode to your own wealth and ego.

It's excessive...

But we will see the sales number .

According to goodcarbadcar.net
2027 units were sold in 2022 in the US alone.
2023, 3200 units.

Full data sheet on the SL sales in the US and beyond.

That’s not a big number now is it? Considering the US consumes around 300K Mercedes every year. The S is probably like 30K

Terrible sales for the EQ saloon models, the EQS is selling half of S-class numbers and EQE is selling 1/3 of E-class numbers.
