CLA [Official] 2019 Mercedes Benz CLA

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.

The sedan is heavier, but the three box shape and the sloping roof significantly reduce the drag and increase the stability (the rear acts like a spoiler and pushes the car to the ground).
Thanks, I thought because of weight difference top speed should be same for both

I owned the original CLA. The door panels on that car sounded less hollow than most MBs at the time. They are certainly of higher quality than the current CLA with soft touch lower door pocket areas and just a thicker and sturdier presence. No hard plastic anywhere on the doors and the top stitched area just looks more substantial. I actually find the build quality in the previous generation to be quite good, and in some ways better than my current C43, which has had quite a few rattles.

The CLA has a CD of 0.22/0.23 vs 0.25/0.26 A-class in standard form, which is why most versions of the CLA will have an approx. 5km/h higher claimed top speed. The slightly higher weight makes them slightly slower in acceleration but judging by the videos of the CLA45 S against A45S the CLA is just as fast and perhaps faster at higher speeds.

Here it does 4.0sec to 100km/h and that is with 1xpassenger, extra luggage and 39degC outside temp.

Another acceleration video of the CLA45S, this is a seriously quick car.

0-100kmh in 4.09sec
0-200kmh in 13.99sec
0-250kmh in 25.19sec
1/4mile in 12.07sec

Something is not right with the choice of tyres used for both CLA's as they both possessed alot of ploughing understeer and at very low speeds. I would expect both models to achieve an easily achievable speed of at least 76km/h to 78km/h on grippier tyres. The body control on both models seemed good as well as the chassis behavior was quite natural except for the understeer.

Don't know why it did bad like that. The A Class hatchback did better, even better than BMW 1 Series.

I like the intro and how are they making fun of Gorden Wagener

It doesn't look like a Mercedes at all. More like some random, anonymous korean or japanese car.

Those in charge at Daimler are crazy, they're screwing up this brand completely!
