CLA [Official] 2019 Mercedes Benz CLA

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Has Been Leaked . . . by Mercedes

Auto Bild discovered that an image of the yet-t0-be-revealed CLA45 is visible on the configurator for the CLA35.
The CLA45 will come in two power levels, with the more powerful S model making upward of 415 horsepower.
In addition to more power, the CLA45 will get a more aggressive body kit and a rear-wheel-drive-enabling Drift mode for its all-wheel-drive system.

In a discovery made by Auto Bild and also written about by Motor1, it seems that Mercedes-AMG has leaked the upcoming CLA45 on its own website. On the German configurator for the recently revealed CLA35, there's an option for the AMG Night package, showing a yellow CLA35. But if you click in to get more information on the package, there's a second photo you can look at, and it shows the CLA45 S—which hasn't been revealed yet.

How do we know it's the CLA45? Well, we can read the badge. But aside from that, there are some visual clues that set it apart from the CLA35 (look below for a comparison). The gray 45 has quad round exhaust tips, while the 35 only has twin round pipes. The 45 has a different wheel design, with red brake calipers and what look like larger rotors peeking through. Both cars pictured have the optional aero package, which adds a bigger rear spoiler and additional bits on the front and rear bumpers and could be standard on the 45. While we can't see the front end, the CLA45 will get a more aggressive bumper and the Panamericana grille that is found on other AMG models including the GT coupe.

The new CLA45 is shaping up to be a monster, with the base version set to get around 385 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, about 10 horses more than the current generation and a good deal more than the 302 horsepower in the new CLA35. As in the 35, all-wheel drive will be standard, but the 45 will get a rear-wheel-drive Drift mode similar to the one in the E63. A new offering will be the CLA45 S, pictured here, which should pack at least 415 horsepower from the same powertrain; the Drift mode could be reserved just for the S model.

This leak makes us think that the CLA45's reveal is imminent. The Europe-only A45 hatch will likely be revealed first, probably within the next few months, with the CLA45 coming soon after. The base CLA45 should stick close to the current model's $54,095 price, but we expect the S model to command a $10,000 premium.

By the way, Remove Before Race (aka Mr. AMG) did a superb review of the new CLA and he was really impressed with the car. Great video.

The only thing he was lying about was the "excellent quality of German roads" - that's a myth. I drive on terrible German roads everyday that look like they're from a war zone! ;)

If they offered this in the US, I would consider it, though A class interior is still a let down for me.

Way too many hard plastics. I previously owned a CLA, the interior with the leather package was quite nice. Yes there was hard plastic, but not as much as now. The B-pillar was trimmed with fabric, the lower parts of the doors were not hard plastic which actually now on the backside of the doors goes all the way up to the top trim, the doors sound EXTREMELY hollow, just to name a couple of examples. Mercedes is putting a lot of their money in the tech and bells and whistles and downgrading the materials in their interiors. I guess why not if Tesla can do it!
