Huayra [Official] 2016 Pagani Huayra BC

The Pagani Huayra, a successor to the Pagani Zonda, was initially revealed online in a press release on 25 January 2011. It was officially revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The car is named after the Quechua god of wind, Huayra-tata. The engine is a 6.0-litre twin-turbo M158 V12 engine from Mercedes-AMG producing 544 kW (740 PS; 730 hp) and 1,000 N⋅m (740 lb⋅ft) of torque. The Huayra's body is made from carbotanium; a lightweight composition of carbon fibre and titanium. The Huayra has been redesigned from the ground up, but shares many visual qualities with its predecessor. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 235 mph (378 km/h). Only 100 units of the Huayra were produced, each costing £1,000,000 (1.05 million US$) without options.
Why is it so quiet compared with the God-like Zonda Revolucion?

Ehm its a road legal car, and the main reason is the NA vs Turbo deal..

Surprise, surprise - it will be road-legal.
We first head about Pagani’s plans to introduce a new hardcore version of the Huayra positioned above the BC in January this year, when we also saw a prototype of the model testing on public roads. Now, a new video shows the supercar being tested on the Franciacorta circuit in Italy and it's a sight to behold. We were hungry for some track action with the new Huayra and here it is for all of us to enjoy.

The 5:11-minute clip uploaded by 19Bozzy92 on YouTube shows a camouflaged prototype lapping the track at a relatively good pace. While the speed is obviously high, we are pretty sure that’s nowhere near the car’s limits as it looks as if it is glued to the asphalt – no body roll, no squealing tires, no drama at all.

According to the video description, the Pagani seen in this video will wear the Huayra Dragon moniker and will be produced in more than just a single example. Initially, the car was commissioned by tuning studio TopCar design but eventually, the Italian exotic car manufacturer decided to launch a limited series of five units. It’s important to note that these should wear a different name.

From what we know so far, no major mechanical improvements will be made but we expect the twin-turbo V12 sourced from AMG to deliver a little more than the 745 horsepower and 811 pound-feet (1,100 Newton-meters) of the Huayra BC. Power should reach rear wheels through a seven-speed single-clutch automatic transmission with paddle-shifts.

As you can see from the attached video, the aerodynamics of the supercar will be dramatically more aggressive than the rest of the Huayra versions. There’s a massive diffuser at the back, a giant fixed wing that extends into the roof through a large fin, and new front air intakes. Despite the in-the-face body kit, the car is expected to retain its road-legal status.

Cool, but something about the exterior design still doesn’t convince me. Seems no matter what they do, it still has a catfish look, imo.

The visceral noise from the engine bay must be insane with the new turbos, water to air intercooler, etc.

There’s an exposed carbon Roadster in my neighborhood- the carbon work is absolutely mesmerizing.

Nice to look at but, questions:
- Does the engine still sound like a dentist's drill?
- Is it still an old SOHC unit that revs barely higher than a diesel?
- Does it still have that clonky, whiney sequential gearbox?

Steady on, diesels don't rev to 7,000rpm, unless someone gets the wrong gear. It does seem to still be the SOHC/3 valve unit though.

That said, 3v may be optimal for road use. 4v offered no power or torque advantage over 2v until about 4,000rpm in the Citroen VTS vs VTR, and 3v would probably stretch that point to 5,000-6000rpm.

That's just the thing - where'd you get that 7000 rpm figure from? IIRC originally, the Huayra's engine barely revved to 5500 rpm...

The basic Huayra produced peak power at 5,800rpm and the redline is at ~6,250rpm and rev limit at 6,500rpm. The Roadster produced peak power at 6,200rpm.

The BC power peak moves up to 5,900rpm, rev limit probably 6,500-7,000rpm (guess).

The original Zonda S produced peak power at only 5,500rpm.

Ok, I will say what everyone knows deep inside, but too polite to say it - ostentatious obsolete overpriced pos.

It is like when you go to someone's house for dinner and their kid shows something they scribbled and you say it looks amazing! Though deep inside you are thinking, wtf...

I’d take out the POS part, but yeah have to agree. Most of the “regular” supercars (F8, 720, Huracan Evo, 992 Turbo) would school it performance-wise.

Then again at the end of the day, this is really a Riviera cruiser and/or a personal car museum piece.

Lol you dont get it.

PS
Love the wheels!

Engine cover is new, no? I like it, everything else is same as the BC without the roof.
