Features 50:50 weight distribution
Dodge is introducing the 2016 Viper American Club Racer (ACR) which will enter production in the third quarter of this year.

Billed as being the "fastest street-legal Viper track car ever", the new hardcore ACR edition is powered by the familiar V10 8.4-liter engine pushing out 645 bhp (480 kW) and 600 lb-ft (812 Nm) sent to the road through a 6-speed manual gearbox. For this model Dodge has installed bespoke exhaust tips providing reduced exhaust pressure while the stopping power is provided by a carbon ceramic matrix braking system from Brembo with 390mm two-piece front rotors and 360mm two-piece rear rotors, with six-piston calipers at the front axle and four-piston rear calipers.

It will be available with an Extreme Aero package enabling the 2016 Viper ACR to produce "the highest aerodynamic downforce of any production car". On-track testing conducted by Dodge has resulted in a nearly 1 ton of downforce at the 177 mph (285 km/h) top speed. The kit encompasses a large adjustable rear wing along with a carbon fiber diffuser and a unique SRT hood featuring removable louvers, four dive planes and a detachable extension for the front splitter.

Dodge's engineers were able to achieve a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and to do that they installed lightweight carpets, a minimal three-speaker sound system and manual seats. It benefits from a race-tuned adjustable suspension with ten settings, coilover Bilstein racing shocks and 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in Kumho Ecsta V720 high-performance tires developed exclusively for this model.

Production of the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR will kick off in the third quarter of 2015 at a yet undisclosed price tag.

I like it a lot, it looks mean and so evil looking! I think It will give the Z06 Corvette and Z28 Camaro a really hard thumping on any track.

Once in a while one has to look at things differently in order to put the whole into perspective... these are the guys under the very same nationality that brought us the PC, the Internet, the Smartphone and the performance oriented electric car; all civilizational revolutions in their own right!

Well, sometimes it's just a matter of applying the old-fashioned 'Big and Chunky' formulation. But then again, I think they are just having a laugh here... and I really can't blame them or avoid laughing along:

And, that way they've simply created a Porsche 918 Spyder beater, an achievement that not even the technological challenger from McLaren could manage...

"The journey culminated just days ago at Laguna Seca, where track expert Randy Pobst climbed into the Viper ACR and set a lap time of 1:28.65. That's 5.27 seconds faster than the previous ACR's time, and 1.24 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder that held the record until now":

Or at Willow Springs Raceway:

And what's more,

"This car [Viper ACR] is not a 1-3 lap track special. You can run the car at the track all day, and the performance doesn't fall off"

That's an important one, isn't it?! One can't say the same about the Porsche 918 or the McLaren P1, for that matter. So, what's the point?

:meh:

And even Chris Harris loves it! He said before you go to buy GT3 RS, you should try the ACR, because it's on another level...

CH, Porsche's BIG fanboy, saying such thing?!

Of course that he didn't mention the 918, Porsche's flagship, did he?! Only the GT3 RS...

So, nothing really new under the sun from that guy!

Anyway, do you have a link of some kind to that?

At $120,895 this got to be the best bang for the buck I have ever come across in the automobile industry... it makes all the other street legal racing cars so insignificant.

I really can't understand how someone seriously thinking in doing some track days would prefer anything else to this Viper ACR.

In fact, with such a car I wouldn't think about anything else but to be seated at the wheel of this baby driving all day long in a track. Can't imagine a better place to be for a petrol head... truly car nirvana!

Man, it really makes everything else so insignificant. Never felt like this about a car I can't afford and definitely never thought it would come from Detroit.

I know that this Viper represents all the opposite to fuel-efficiency which I've always stood for but this is undoubtedly the best driver's car I can think of... and more than cars, I love to drive! So, please buy me one! :hungry:

Thank you! And thinking that a 918 Spyder costs $847,975... for what?! It's outrageous, it's nonsense, really!:wacky:

I want one so badly... for the price difference I can think of one thousand other different ways to save the planet!

"Unfortunately, this fan learned why people aren’t supposed to stand in the turn immediately following the Flugplatz and as a result, he lost his life.

As a result, the Nürburgring management immediately announced a speed limit for certain vehicles that would impact a variety of racing events, but most notably, the speed limit effectively put a stop to lap record runs since any run challenging any modern record would most certainly break those speed limits.

Fortunately, the Nürburgring management team has come up with a solution which will allow them to lift the speed limit in 2016, after a large portion of the track in the Flugplatz section has been leveled to prevent cars from taking flight."

"Only one of the modifications will change the way we drive the track, the rest are all aimed at spectator safety."

"The most controversial point of the whole operation for us drivers. They’re going to smooth the bumps at Quiddelbacher Höhe. Sure we’ll see less air, but the Nordschleife you drive today is already a lot different to the 70s, 60s and 50s. No jump at Brünnchen, no jumps on Döttinger Höhe. I think we’ve got to live with this one"

"As a result, the Flugplatz section's bump has been flattened out, while the track has been streched. In a bit of a confusing effect, the lack of a jump-bump may keep cars on the tarmac, but the new layout means greater speeds through that area. This is true for both street cars, such as the Leon Cupra DSG being used as a camera car here, and racecars pacing serious downforce".

So, now that those changes already took place (any manufacturer's lap time from March 2016 onwards will reflect this change and will be necessarily faster than what could have been possible to achieve before) they need to bring the 2016 Viper ACR to the Nurburgring circuit, ASAP!!! I'm sure it will beat the Porsche 918 Spyder there too and will go straight to the top of the laptimes table.

Anyone knows if this will happen anytime soon?

This thing even comes with an user manual for street/track setup... It's the ultimate track performance made available for everyone (provided you have the money :bigtears:). I can't get enough of this Viper ACR. It's my dream car come true!

"I love this car!"... it's what I keep hearing about this car from whoever is seated at the wheel. And then there is the fastest lap times to back it up. It can't be a lie!
