CLS [Official] 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
The forgotten car in the Mercedes range. I really want one of these, would be a great 2nd hand buy .

If I had the money, I wouldn't buy this car only because of that Grunding in the middle. It is disgusting.

Mercedes is marking the imminent departure of the current, second-generation CLS Class four-door coupe and Shooting Brake with this Final Edition model.

The model adds an AMG Line exterior pack including a diamond radiator grille in chrome, sporty front and rear bumpers, deeper side panels, twin-outlet exhaust, and 19-inch wheels finished in black (18-inch items in silver are available, as well).

Inside is black leather upholstery with light-coloured stitching. The 'multicontour' front seats are heated and adjustable in many different ways, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel has Dinamica microfiber grips and silver shift paddles.

The Final Edition spec also includes LED head lights, sliding sunroof and heat-insulating privacy glass.

The package is available on any CLS model, both Coupe and Shooting Brake, adding €8,211 ($9,131) to the base price. Prices start at €54,680 ($60,799) in Germany. There's no word on whether or not the Final Edition will be available in the USA.

Now the E Class it shares a platform with has entered a new generation, the CLS in its current form won't be around much longer. Expect to see the next-gen car towards the end of 2017 or in early 2018.

Sadly, it doesn't look like the epically cool but slow-selling Shooting Brake wagon won't survive the transition.

No test mules yet must mean there is a shocker coming! Can't say I'm going to miss this car, it just didn't live up to the style and presence of the first generation.

Agreed, I did think however a few touches were fine, for example the greenhouse shape was superb imo better than thr somewhat fussy C219 greenhouse...

What if this CLS (side and rear) design had been greenlit as opposed to Hubert Lee's design in 2007? This photo is circa 2005-06.

This would have been a direct design successor to the first generation CLS; maintaining the pinched or banana-shape profile. Unfortunate... it looks great, nice and clean.

SLS tailights (the shape) are also previewed years in advance.

Just collected a CLS 350 d 4MATIC from Sixt rental car. I have it until Monday. I actually booked the highest class (S-Class/7 Series/A8) only to be given this. I argued vehemently that under no circumstances is a CLS in the same ballpark as the S-Class. They said that it's in the same category. I was furious. No other car available whatsoever. I've been going there 15 years and I've rented a serious amount of cars from them. I've tweeted Sixt.de but so far no reply.

Does anybody have any advice on what to do next? My point is that the CLS should not be in the same category as the S-Class.

I'd be fuming myself. Are you dealing with concierge? Often times they don't know much about cars and think anything MB/BMW/Audi is the highest class. Or they saw the "S" in CLS and decided they're in the same category.

Have you tried calling headquarters or a regional manager? I'd tell them the CLS doesn't not have the space I require (Mid-sized 4 seater). I'd also have them pull up the list of cars you rented previously to make your case.

Take the car to the front of their headquarters and set it on fire? :dazed053:

Maybe bring a few golf clubs and a camera as well, South Korean style.

:D Sorry, couldn't resist.

You've got away too first world problems my friend.

:p :D

It's a CLS. They didn't give you a Kia Cee'd.

I haven't had time to do anything yet. I had to just accept the car. The branch is in Germany and I've been going there for ten years. I even know a few of the employees very well, but they weren't working today. I'm not sure the outcome would have been any different had they been working there. The issue is that Sixt have put the CLS in the same category as the S-Class, when clearly it isn't similar at all.

Contacting customer services is an option but I've had a few issues in the past and it's just impossible getting through to someone who speaks English.

I would have been happy to get a Kia Cee'd had I paid for one. But I didn't. I paid for an S-Class.
