A3/S3/RS3 [Official] 2015 Audi RS3 Sportback

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
Can someone explain the new haldex 5 system.

It sends more power to the rear but how about the power on the left and right wheels?

Does it have some kind of mechanical limited slip diff front and rear or does it work with braking the inside wheel so simulate a real mechanical diff.

Based on my own research into Haldex 5 some months ago:

- Conceptually it is little different from Haldex units of previous generations: it is still a limited slip coupling (i.e. a "centre" differential) located at the rear axle of the vehicle.
- There are no additional superimposed gear sets or clutch packs on the left and right outputs of the rear differential as standard so torque vectoring is likely via braking.
- The unit is more compact and the amount of rear torque bias can be set electronically.

Ok so the Focus RS Awd setup is more advanced then!

Difficult to say as a matter of fact as it appears that the Focus RS may potentially make use of Haldex 5 - the difference being that it has clutch packs on the left and right side for the torque vectoring function like a proper limited slip differential. These clutch packs may just as easily be bolt-ons to the standard Haldex product.

Of course, the AWD systems may not be supplied by Haldex at all! :)

Starts at €52,700
Audi has launched on its German website the online configurator for the RS3 Sportback.

Revealed back in December last year, the range-topping A3 model can be had at home in Germany from a starting price of €52,700. Adding one of the four metallic or two pearlescent paints will bump price by €690 while the crystal-effect panther black paint is an extra €900. If none of the standard hues suit your tastes, virtually any custom color is possible through the Individual program but it costs a hefty €2,300.

There are four 19-inch alloy wheel designs to choose from, along with various visual exterior packages and a panorama roof priced at €1,100. Privacy glass is an extra €400 while a set of 19-inch rims with winter tires costs €2,500.

Moving inside the cabin, RS sport seats cost an additional €745, carbon fiber accents are €800 while electrically-adjustable front seat raise the price tag by €685 and by a further €340 if you want them heated. One of the most expensive options is the MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch available at €2,300 and there's also an RS sports exhaust system for €1,000. The RS3 Sportback can also be equipped with an RS Design Package bringing a variety of styling enhancements inside.

Audi has previously announced deliveries of the quattro-equipped 367 HP RS3 Sportback will kick off in the summer.

What is the f#ckery about using both the floppy and the stick? Are they marketing people? Are they running a rail? This looks overly undramatic... I'd go to Europark instead.

I am interested in this car as a daily car and some family outings.

Any movies on track already?

Audi won't offer a Plus variant of the RS3 Sportback

According to a recent report, Audi will not offer a high-performance RS3 Plus.

In an interview with Top Gear, Quattro GmbH technical development boss Stefan Reil said "We are at the limit of the size of the turbocharger. We have durability limits and our warranties to consider."

While the engine can technically develop more power - as shown by the 525 PS (386 kW) A3 clubsport quattro concept - Reil said it would require the use of a larger turbocharger and a "lot of engineering." This seems to suggest we'll have to make due with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that develops 367 PS (270 kW) and 465 Nm (342 lb-ft) of torque.
