A4/S4/RS4 [Official] 2013 Audi RS4 B8

The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced by Audi. Production: 1994-2025. Predecessor: Audi 80. Successor: Audi A5 (B10).
I can think of a couple of FI engines even more 'peachy'. None come from VAG. That V6 is nice but don't get carried away now.

Ai caramba. That post's got no business here in the RS4 thread. And, whilst the interpretation of the word "peachy" is questionable, there's no doubt that the VAG make some of the best FI engines around. However, let's not debate that here.

Another classic post from Klier. I think we can soon write a book about the posts that makes you want to throw out the computer and never visit this site again.

Moving on to the RS4 now, and lets ignore that one.

Thanks Martin, though I'm pretty sure my use of the word "peachy" was appropriate.

P.S.
Anyone else ordered one yet?

I think the pics are not real. The stance looks too good for a standard car. It also looks "A4 Allroad"-high.

^ Agreed, I've seen that much of this red that the very thought of getting mine in the same brings sick into my mouth. Though one thing I'm grateful of is this RS4 is minus the alloy pack and is all the better for it.

What colour are you thinking off for yourself?

Alloy pack is the silver strip on the splitter in front?

If it's available I'm leaning towards Sepang Blue or Panther Black but who knows, it's all too early to make such decisions.

Why should they replace that gem V8 engine with an "inferior" engine? Any weight issues of the car are irrelevant for the engine. The 4.2 Liter V8 is quite possible one of the best engines Audi has ever produced (it is really a Lamborghini V10 with 2 cylinders chopped off and the corresponding displacement).

How often people dismiss the 3.0TFSI as inferior and how wrong they are, it might not be either N/A or have a rev range in the clouds but it's impossible when driving it to not be impressive by it's silky smooth and linear power delivery. I can't think of any FI engine as peachy as this one and I'm sure any S4/5 owner with this engine would agree.

It's will be a very sad day in my opinion when this engine is dropped from Audi's line up.

Agreed with Deck. The V8 in the RS4/RS5 is amazing and while I love NA high revving engines, the 3.0T motor is something truly special. As far as potential goes, I think the 3.0T has the V8 beat. It does a great job in the S4 and I'm sure it would of been a game changer in the RS4. Power is very linear and builds gradually. A tuned version of this engine would of rocked this segment.

I'm pretty sure that the engineers inside quattroGmbH wanted the 4.2FSI dropped in favour of a smaller unit but costs probably determined the reason this didn't happen. I fully understand both sides of the coin because the v8 is one of the greatest of it's type in existance and the match of just about any other, where as the 3.0SC is everything an FI engine should aspire to be (IMO) which is silky smooth and linear in it's delivery with a decently throaty note and flexible enough to offer tuning options without costing the earth.

I know the RS4 is only about to hit the showrooms shortly but I bet anything the next RS4 will be rather special too and for completely different reasons.

Times are certainly changing. Engines like the RS4's and the current e92 M3's are the last of its kind. We need to appreciate them while they are around.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932.
