Also, all this crap about Scott will not end untill Betty stops acting like a teacher to everyone here or he is banned. Hope for the latter since he and his "contribution" to this forum are one of the main reasons why i've stopped posting here. Together with the lack of time and too much business of course...

And you all know i have no love for scott and his BS.. but this is uncalled for.
Obviously the decision is made that he gets to stay, he even has his own section.

BUT note this, when he pulls some amazing shit like dates that don't lead to something, or use words like engineering masterpiece for door frames, he WILL be called out for it..

Every year we go through the same issues regarding this individual / matter and I am beginning to wonder if it's worth it.
Let me try and explain my perspective purely from that of a private individual who has been involved with the moderation of this forum for a decade.
I have friends on both sides of the SCOTT fence. I consider them to be my friends yet they are often very different people with different views. So...
a) I won't be drawn into taking sides over a matter as trivial as this. I like you and I like you and I like you too...
b) People may not get along but I see value and merit in each of you.
c) This is a public forum.
d) Because it's public and, moreover, because it's human nature - people will want truth, openness, honesty and facts. People actually don't want lies, misrepresentation, obfuscation and spin.
d) The site owner and its management team are not responsible for what is and isn't truthfully represented on this forum. We are responsible for moderation within the ambit of the site rules.
e) This is a public forum (again).
f) People have to be mature enough to let their beef with one or other members go. Just let it go - all of you - and leave your personal feelings out of this.
g) This is a public forum (getting old yet?)
h) People have a right to question the validity of statements and representations made. BUT. They are not entitled to personal attack and character assassination.
i) Extremes on both sides of the fence are guilty of h). Take note of this and please, I implore you, start behaving more "moderately".

"Similar"? Err, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Usually it's me posting off-topic when it comes to Scoot, so this thread stops other threads from going off-topic.
What I will say is that I don't dislike someone for no reason. In fact, I don't dislike Scoot. I don't know him. But there are many, many things which he's chosen to post on this forum over the years which deserve to be questioned. The G30 launch for one. And his comment about "lobbying" for an M5 Touring. Can people not see he's trying to make himself out to be something he's not?
I propose that this thread stay open where I (or anybody else) can question things Scoot posts. I'm not saying it shouldn't stay within the realms of the forum rules. It should NOT be a place for personal attacks (I'm looking at you @PanterroR, you big softie). BUT, by having this thread it means other threads do not get taken off-topic.

Betty I think you are under the impression that whatever Scott posts is law amongst us forumers. I personally couldn't give a crap what he posts. To me if he posts something that i find valuable i will like it. If I think his posts are crap i will ignore it. It's that simple.
Whether he actually works for BMW or not, again I couldn't give a shit because its not important.
Tell me, how do YOU know what is valuable and what is not when he's posting stuff that simply isn't true?
How about the G30 thread when he stated a very specific deadline as to when the 5 Series would be launched, and it turned out to be absolute rubbish? And I mean it wasn't even close. The issue isn't that you have to wait longer for the G30 to be released, but that someone is deliberately misleading people.
How can YOU place any value on anything he says? Are you that desperate for information that you'll believe any old rubbish that someone posts on the Internet?

Well that's for you to decide, and what I decide is my business. I certainly don't take it at face value because then i would be gullible. But what I'm not gonna do is rip people to shreds because of what they post. What people post is their business. The same goes for Scott.
It's up to us to believe his posts or not. And i believe that you have every right to question his actions on this forum as does every one. But there are consequences to your actions just like there are consequences to Scott's actions.
The difference is that Scott's actions are harmless and yours are scathing. I mean no disrespect to you but maybe just take a chill pill and ignore Scott's posts.
I think the forum we will be back to its best if we all just get back to doing what we do best which is discussing and debating our favourite car brands.
