Sorry for derailing the thread, but what happens in case of...
With the similar doors (gull wings) of the SLS, Mercedes solved it with controlled pyrotechnics, a great idea that defined the feasibility of its door system.

No idea what the tesla solution is or if they have any

Mercedes SLS had pyrotechnic filling to separate door...

Thanks @DjordjeC63 and @dalab that's a clever a solution. Tesla doesn't say anything about pyrotechnic bolts in the Model X.

I hope they win the lawsuit. Elon is a massive douchebag.

Anyway, back to the topic.

What kind of drugs some of you are f***ing smoking? The wheel in the W223 doesn't look anything like the wheel in the Volkswagen.

red - general shape of the pair of the spokes
green - approx. place where spokes get angled inwards as they approach the center of the wheel
magenta - black paint (even the spokes have black paint in both, not the exact same places, but the idea remains)

@Matski: so you decided to also post a selfie?

@people: identical and similar are two different words, with different meanings! a dictionary can help you!

as for similar rims...
rims on the touareg and the w223 are very similar

You don’t like it? Leave. Simple as that. Same warning goe...
You're such a fanboy (or blind) that you can't admit the rim designs are almost identical and actually try to make others who have noticed that similarity come off as crazy. Stop being moronic, you can like the new s-class and still recognize facts.
I'll leave when I want to leave, simple as that.

Can we stop with the rims being almost identical, or not...doesnt matter
Maybe if you search hard you find that they can have almost identical leather...but the quality will be different...from a normal personal view, yes, they look almost identical, from a designer point of view not so much, but, again, people should care about quality and how it works with the car...for me multiple spoke rims works on the S class

You act like d:ck. Why is that?
That is a very philosophical question.

Is he perhaps a penis ?
Was he raised by penises.. hmm
Did society force him to be a penis?
Was he bit by a penis like Spider-Man and transformed into one??

The questions are many.

let’s see what he says.

Hello,

Honest point I am trying to make about Mercedes presumably copying VW's Tiguan wheels.

The wheel here below

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/The_tire_wheel_of_Mercedes-Benz_V220d_Marco_Polo_HORIZON_%28W447%29.jpg

and

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Mercedes-C-Class-W205-Single-A2054012902-18-Inches/dp/B014F5DTGC

is a design that was introduced, to my knowledge, in 2014 or 2015 on the W447 Mercedes Vito. Please feel free to correct me.

The VW Tiguan design some of you mention dates back to 2016.

Could it actually be the opposite ? That VW took inspiration on that specific Mercedes wheel design ?

That specific Mercedes wheel design which perhaps served as a basis for designing one of the W223's wheel design ?

Cheers, Stephane

Some might forget this one,right?

Quick! Within 2 seconds tell me which one is C, E, S! :)

It's ok, Mercedes can't do it themselves ;)

And it explains why they went German military organization with the design:
Cadet: 1 stripe / DRL line - C class
Major: 2 stripes / 2 DRL Lines - E class
Colonel: 3 stripes / 3 DRL lines - S class

Organisation! Ja!

This pic is from 2013(it's from wikipedia, the page for touareg):

The design is fairly similar.

I have to admit that I'm not sure who was first.

This wheel debate makes me want to snort chloroquine, then neck a chaser of Dettol and tequila.
