Okay, if you say so.

Thank you for complying with the compulsory thought police ;)

On a serious note though, no more M8 Coupé/Convertible for the 2021 year model now being official news, likely shortly followed by the regular 8er Coupé/Convertible, is quite a disaster in BMW's strategy of conquest of both the premium luxury and the premium sports segments. BMW seemed to be targeting both the S-Class Coupé, DB11 and Continental GT on the one hand, and the 911 on the other, with likely a comprehensive M8 lineup comprised of regular, Competition, CS and CSL versions. At least as an image maker in the absence of an R8 or an AMG GT in the lineup. BMW M is still lucky enough to be living off of the overused image of its brief but successful motor racing past, however this trick won't be working forever. It is now pretty obvious they are going to hold back launching any dedicated supercar unless it's fully electric, which won't happen anytime soon. And this is exactly why the 8er isn't selling well - BMW is being increasingly perceived as a manufacturer of soulless devices that have more in common with house appliances than with passion-infused and emotion-inducing machines, and a couple of brilliant M models in the range won't offset the general perception.

We are in the midst of this global economic disaster and it is not what the official communication implies, there is no failure or anything like that, instead the sales of all these BMWs had been exceeding expectations before the pandemic in the USA and the rest of the world.

The real analysis is that in niche and high-priced vehicles like these, due to the Covid that is already seen to continue to affect in one way or another city after city, this year's allocation will move so slowly that it will be (in principle) enough to start 2021, when it is normalized and needed it will not be a problem to carry more, as it must be happening with many other similar models from other brands

Are we forgetting that the world has been closed since the last 4 months?

Hmm, you're the one who made an unnecessarily provocative post; "seems like noone's been covering this news, bigots". Then when somebody reacted to the provocation you cry "thought police".

Nobody is in the slightest bit interested in whatever agenda you have. You even pointed out that nobody's covering "this news". That's because it's not really news, and nor is particularly noteworthy. It seems you only posted those photos so you can make some kind of dig at BMW supporting gay pride.

I am amazed at your ability to pick up on irony and sarcasm, Betty, bravo, very clever, good job quoting and repeating. Well for what I know these aren't quite yet prohibited speak anywhere in our free democratic societies. Except of course in your ideal world where there is no more pluralism of opinion allowed other than your own, i.e. a fascistic dictatorial society which punishes and cancels whoever disagrees with the promoted narrative.

So yeah, that's right, as a free human being acting within the bounds of law and even more so as a BMW customer, I am fully entitled to take a dig at BMW for pretty much anything they are distracted by instead of just focusing on making good cars. You finding this offensive just confirms you are an authoritarian, a.k.a. a bigot.

So let's see what the value of your contribution to this automotive forum has been so far: spyshots, videos, in-depth analyses, etc.? Nah, none of that, instead, lots of talking about yourself and scouring the threads in search of people to label racist, bigot, homophobe, etc. and calling the moderation team for sanctions, oh yeah, and enjoying parading under aliases or as someone of the opposite sex. Glorious.

Nobody is threatening your freedom of speech. Nor did I find what you posted "offensive", despite your claims to the contrary. The only person that seems outraged is you.

Now, it's clear your motivation for making that post was to have a dig at BMW supporting gay pride (and that is what you're now admitting to). If that's what makes you happy, fine, but this is not the correct forum to do it in. Try the politics forum where your excrement-filled musings about gay pride and Muslims can be avoided by those who would rather not read it.

Off topic posts from the original thread have been moved here.

If anyone wants to continue the discussion, do it here, but keep it civil.

Thank you :)

So many car companies are doing this. Frankly, if any company wants to further their reach into a demographic, well that's just good business.

Don't see what the big deal is.

Don't see what the big deal is.

Well, that's because you're open-minded and a logical thinker. It's only the small-minded people who have an issue with it. advantage20 could have just posted the photo of the 8er in the rainbow colours without comment, but no. The only reason he posted a photo from the 24th June was because he didn't approve of it and he wanted to make a dig at BMW being part of gay pride. Then when called out on the fact he was being deliberately provocative, he has a massive tantrum and whines about his "freedom of speech" and the "law". What he wants is his freedom of speech with nobody allowed to react to it.

People occupying this part of the VENN Diagram are always the same. They bang on and on about "freedoms" yet they only seem to care about the freedoms they approve of. They accuse other people of being easily offended yet here we are, finding offence in a car painted in a few bright colours to support people who have no impact on his life whatsoever.

Well, that's because you're open-minded and a logica...

Actually you are the only one here who's been consistently advocating for speech control i.e. censorship and actively shouting out for the mods to take swift actions whenever you've bumped into a post that more or less digresses into politics that you disagree with, whether in a rationally argued fashion or with some picture/video that you deemed 'unnecessary' or 'provocative' (which again is not prohibited speech), while routinely enriching your moral lessons with slurs and foul language. All the while infusing a much larger share of your own postings with your own political beliefs. Yet no one's been calling out for controlling or banning your speech, just like no one's been calling out for censoring BMW's or others' free communication. There is a radical difference between freely reacting to and calling for the suppression of, which totalitarian bigots on the left are doing.

And no one's being throwing a tantrum either, just proving conclusively what a narrow-minded illogical two-faced hypocrite you are. Feel free to use the ignore function to isolate yourself from anything you might potentially be offended by again in the future.

I'll repeat it once again, seeing as you keep referring to something that happened two months ago.

Making Islamaphobic posts isn't "politics", and there shouldn't be anything to debate. It's hate speech. Period.

Feel free to use the ignore function to isolate yourself from anything you might potentially be offended by again in the future.

Again, nobody is offended. Nobody is telling you not to post. You made your provocative comment and two people responded. If you want to post a photo of an 8er in rainbow colours, fine. What you did, however, is use that as a thinly veiled excuse to have a dig at BMW supporting gay pride, and if you want to do that you should keep it to the "politics & debate" section where people who use this forum to discuss cars can avoid it. It's really that simple. Why you feel the need to constantly whine about your freedom of speech is beyond me. If a brightly coloured car offends you then I suggest you complain to BMW.

So here is a debunking of the whole xxx-phobia slur strategy, since it's been brought up, for anyone who might happen to be reading, and this here will be my last response.

For starters, the concept is very ill-named. While agoraphobia, arachnophobia, etc. rightly designate the irrational and irresistible fear and apprehension that certain people may feel in relation to open spaces, spiders, etc., applying the same -phobia suffix to situations where hate is implied instead of fear is asinine. Fear and hate aren't necessarily concomitant: one may be repulsed by yet not actually afraid of something (e.g. slugs), or on the contrary immensely afraid of yet passionately fond of something (e.g. skydiving), or equally hateful and afraid at the same time (e.g. dark, closed spaces).

Therefore whoever is afraid of something or someone doesn't necessarily hate that thing or person for what/who it/he is. E.g. if an elderly person happens to have been repeatedly harassed by people of a certain origin or from a certain area of his town, anticipating further similar encounters with apprehension is just a natural, involuntary response to pattern recognition. Once bitten, twice shy. Not an innate loathing of a certain color or religion per se, which doesn't make much sense. It is in fact the lack of such a reaction that would signal an abnormal, unreasonable behavior. Yet the Left universally and unanimously labels pattern recognition as xxx-phobia, ironically not in the literal sense that would be correct (fear) but in the fabricated sense of hate. Lumping together those few who actually feel evil and hatred for such and such (a tiny minority of those labeled as xxx-phobic) and those who have legitimate reasons to feel fear or apprehension (the vast majority of those labeled as xxx-phobic), and morally reprimanding the latter for their natural reactions as being hatred, which is inane.

Likewise, everytime someone expresses some sort of criticism towards a particular group (ethnic, racial, religious...) in society, the mere act of pointing and singling it out in that particular argument is immediately labeled by the Left as xxx-phobia, i.e. hatred. Regardless whether it's about denouncing uncivil, unlawful or barbaric behavior (e.g. rape or stabbings on a massive scale). Regardless whether it's about putting the finger on an issue that, if solved, would tremendously benefit that given group in the first place (e.g. becoming literate, graduating highschool, avoiding single motherhood, avoiding engaging in confrontation with the police, following civil rules such as social distancing when required, etc.). The hysteria of the Left increases ten-fold when a little satyre or sarcasm are added to the criticism out of mere exhaustion of seeing crap repeating all over again. It doesn't matter, any such endeavor will be labeled as hate speech and subsequently called out for censorship, suppression, cancellation and ultimately mob vengeance.

The fact of constantly playing the xxx-phobia (i.e. xxx-hatred) joker card is therefore, for the most part, an intellectual scam, conveniently used ad nauseam because it allows shutting down the rational debate to avoid exposing a fragile position. Instead, only seeking to shield those who are being targeted by the given criticism from being upset/offended. Even though this ultimately is a cowardly act which leads to maintaining the status quo, i.e. maintaining those groups which may encounter difficulties on their 'enclosure'/'plantation', instead of actively showing them the way out. Yeah, calling people racists, bigots and xxx-phobes brings free virtue points and is infinitely easier than actually taking the issues by their horns. This is exactly the extent to which the Left loves and cares for its minorities: keeping minorities insulated from any questioning, in perpetual victimhood, dependent and domesticated under the Left's wing. And of course, overusing this xxx-phobia joker card ultimately waters down its substance until it loses all credibility on those rare occasions where it would actually be pertinent.

Finally, Black Lives Matters, or the LGBT lobby, or any other vocal and generously financed organization that claims to be speaking in the name of a given community, usually has never received any mandate or approval for its words and actions from that given community and mostly speaks for itself. Therefore, pointing out the supremacist, criminal, terrorist abuses of BLM, or the ubiquitous rainbow propaganda which comes bundled with the derision of the traditional family and heterosexualism, the moral injunction to have sex with transsexuals or else being hate-labeled, Drag Queen Story Hour and the gradual move closer and closer to paedophilia, is in no way an expression of hatred towards black or LGBT people, simply because those lobbies do not legitimately represent these people and do not even have their best interests at heart, and conversely many of these people do not feel rightly represented by those lobbies.

So next time you hear or read 'xxx-phobia' or 'hate speech', pause and ask yourself what it really means in that context. You are welcome.

Limiting the accepted definition of the 'phobic/phobia' suffix is asinine in itself. It's commonly accepted that they do indeed convey aversion or intolerance to, as well as irrational fear of something. A Hydrophobic coating for example feels no emotion at all, yet the word conveys the coatings aversion to water (for example). Xenophobic and transphobic are equally well understood to mean an aversion to, or intolerance of foreign people or customs, and transexuals. It's not a big step to chuck hate in there too, or discrimination, because.. well, human nature.... those are two reactions we may have when we find ourselves intolerant of something. I can't speak for David Brent, but if I think you hate LGBTQIA+etc. people, I'll just say it. If I use xxx-phobic it's generally an acknowledgement that someone's issue is more complex than a simple 'hate' emotion..

As for the rest... cool story bro.
