Well, that's one mileage profile, as we've both said, it will vary a lot.

Interestingly though, these are the numbers from the UK office of statistics I alluded to earlier on..

stat.webp

94% of journeys are less than 25 miles.... 50% are less than 5 miles... PHEV range is enough to significantly cut fuel consumption for a lot of people.

Ok, evaluate the PHV only monetarily/economically.

Mercedes-Benz C350e:
Price difference: 7259 € more than C300 (51.051 € 7G-TRONIC / 43.792 € 9G-TRONIC)
Wall-Box: 954 € (Keba KeContact P20)

BMW 330e:
Price difference: 3.150 € more than 330i (43.600 € 8G-Steptronic / 40.450 € 8G-Steptronic)
Wall-Box: 895 € (BMW)

How will the money comes back? How will it be to drive a ~ 50.000 € car with this limitations:

"Even if one wants to drive electrically, one has to change over: Although electric goes in theory up to 120 km/h (BMW 330e) / 130 km/h (Mercedes C350e), but you have to make the foot quite, very lightly and very gently accelerate, if one at the traffic lights without burners want to start."

Don't forget, the driving range will be much shorter in the winter (up to -40%).

Ok, evaluate the PHV only monetarily/economically.

Easy... company car. Its free and would attract less personal tax, it would also save on short trip journeys accounting for about 60 miles per week. On long runs, sure it might only save enough in fuel to pay for a meal, or the bar tab for the evening, but I'm already saving money by that stage... I'd give less money to the tax man, and less money to petrol stations -- two entities that I really don't like giving money to! If I had to give a ball park figure, it would save me perhaps £2000 a year.

I've repeatedly said that a PHEV would suit me, I'm not trying to convince you that you should prefer it (as you appear to be trying to do by convincing everyone they need to drive everywhere at 200 km/h with a full boot dodging mooses with a petrol engine).

edit: I'd also add, in the UK new registrations of 330e in the UK far outweighed those of the 330i.

As I mentioned earlier, everyone should buy and drive what they like!

I'm talking about PHV in technical terms. If we excludethe Q7 e-tron (+19.600 € + 375 kg) and take the C350e so it's clear (except special cases) for standard user, no way to amortize 8.000 € higher price. For that you can drive 80.000 km for free.

The 330e ist another car and some may get the money back by restricting themself to
'make the foot quite, very lightly and very gently accelerate,' but they will drive a heavier car with less luggage compartment, less top speed and higher investment
and
PHVs need to be constantly recharged, everywhere (every 15-20 km in the summer and 8-12 km in the winter) to obtain the desired savings aspec.

Nobody will do this.
