GT-R Nissan GT-R (Official pics & info)

The Nissan GT-R (Gran Turismo–Racing; model code: R35) is a series of cars built by Nissan from 2007 to 2025. It has a 2+2 seating layout and is considered both a sports car and a grand tourer. The engine is front-mid mounted and drives all four wheels. It succeeds the Nissan Skyline GT-R, a high-performance variant of the Nissan Skyline. The car is built on the PM platform, derived from the FM platform used in the Skyline and Nissan Z models. Production is conducted in a shared production line at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan.

It's been one of the most previewed and hotly anticipated new performance cars in history, and now Nissan's pre-lauch campaign for the GT-R super-coupe takes another step forward with the release of this teaser image.

This is the first look at Nissan's new Porsche 911 Turbo-fighter they've given us so far (allbeit a dark and enigmatic one), and as a profile of the new car, clearly shows its macho, blistered front and rear wheel-arches.

Meanwhile, the countdown to the unveiling of the Nissan GT-R, on press day at the Toyko motor show, continues; as this story was written, there were 18 days, 19 hours and 31 minutes before that debut.

Come back to Autocar.co.uk on October 24 for first pictures of the new Nissan GT-R, and on October 25 to watch our exclusive Tokyo motor show video

On a car of that caliber, one would expect those huge door creases off of the front fender to be the end-part of a cooling system for the brakes.

afaik this car wont have a Manual Transmition option

now i know there are many that chose cars based on this..

does this mean..no matter how kick ass this car will be ( cause belive me it will KICK ASS) you wont want it.. just cuase it does not have MT
and therefor iyo´s is not a real drivers car?

After months of spy shots and drip-fed teasers Nissan’s all new GT-R super-coupe has been revealed with the early release of the December issue of MotorTrend. The tagline on the magazine’s cover claims the car is as fast as the Porsche 911 Turbo and is priced less than $80,000, confirming rumors the new GT-R will set a new standard in bang-for-your-buck comparisons.

Other details include the GT-R’s acceleration time of 3.5 seconds for the 0-60mph and 11.7 seconds for the quarter mile. Top speed is claimed to be a staggering 192mph.

Although we still don’t have any official details about the car’s new drivetrain, most are expecting to see a 3.8L V6 engine fed by a pair of turbochargers and mated to a dual-clutch gearbox with the latest ATESSA all-wheel drive setup. The car should measure in at 4,650mm in length and 1,920mm across. There’s rumored to be three different flavors of the new GT-R, starting with a 450hp entry-level model and ranging up to a 530hp flagship. This latter version is expected to be a stripped out racer with plenty of carbon-fiber and a track-tuned suspension.

Stay tuned for the flood of official details and images once the car is revealed at next week’s Tokyo Motor Show.

It's looking good! Seems to have made the transition from concept(s) to finished product pretty much unscathed. In fact, despite some of the cooler details of the concept being omitted (such as those nice headlights and carbon fibre frontal detailing) I'd say that the production GT-R looks every bit as good as the concept - if not better!

Those blackened a-pillars and that fantastic roofline - masterful.

Not even a thanks? You are avaricious, aren't you, Martin? :D

j/k...:usa7uh:

I have no words to describe this car, it's simply perfect (?)!

I'm not a fan of that roofline, not my type, but who gives a $h!t for it? Just look at those numbers!

Haha, i'm so glad that this car will annihilate F430, both performance and looks wise for only 80k! Eat that, Screwderia! :D

I like the front of the concept more than the production version. They should have kept the carbon fibre trim below the headlights.

'bout bloody time! Tis looks fantastic to say the least.

The Japanese king is finally back; the true alternative to the fire-breathing supercars of Europe.

DAMN thats a hot car.. im so glad that they didnt change much from the concept..
and those figures sounds crazy

PS
Checkout the battle on the front page of motortrend.. MAN am i waiting to read that:D

I admire this car for its potential performance, which is in the supercar category. I also admire this car for its relatively low price. But I really can't say I like its exterior styling. Maybe it will grow on me with time........

Much too "tuning" and "fast&furious" to me...
But the performance figures, track time, and price tag are really impressive!!!
It is as fast as the Turbo (wasn't it supposed to be faster?), but with what kind of power, 530hp I think? If it is with less power than the 911, than kudos to them!!

Anyway, for me the actual 911 Turbo is by far the less impressive of the line-up...And is about to receive a (invisible) face-lift and power-increase (thanks to direct injection mainly I think).

It shows how serious Porsche takes the GT-R threat!!

Impressive stuff done by nissan, it seems that this car is worthy of its name.

Serious performance, but a little of a let down in terms of looks... once the camo comes off, the front looks a little dull. (Hopefully it's just the angle of the picture)!

I still think they should have used the concept front to the letter!

The front is indeed a dissapointment simply to much blank space between the grill and head lights. Maybe it looks better in black or something.
