X3/X4 Next X3: Spyshots & CGIs

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3.
HAHAH omg that rear is SO wrong..
front is okay..in fact better than the existing one..:D

The autobild version looks like a KIA with someone replacing the front with the kidney grills.

Either that or then he just forgot to take his prescription pills...

:D

The most probable reason is that all "leakers" from BMW design studio went to vacations in August, so poor Huckie had to "design" new X3 on his own. ;):D

And he ain't a great designer at all. :eusa_doh:

...or someone put something in his drink @ the club :D

Nice one, Huck. Good for your reputation, this chop!

after the new X5, can safely say it won't look anything like that... (ignoring the fact that the current X3 resembles nothing from the X5 though)..
the concept CS just screws everyone's minds, it is a huge departure from the current Bangle era (moving into the NEW bangle era??) and people are stuffing both design cues into future cars..

The current X3, as bad as it looks, has had great sales for some reason, probalby no direct rival..

Could it be the F25 X3 with the pre FEP E70 bodywork? Just testing suspension systems and stuff?

Certainly not. F25 X3 chassis will be quite shorter & a bit narrower. The car in the spy pic is definitely E70 X5 - in its full dimension.

Perhaps they are still testing some components not offered yet - eg. DPC. :t-hands: And they were too lazy to remove the camo. :D

Mind that taped cars in FEP phases are exposed mainly due marketing reasons: to get as much publicity & exposure as possible.

The current BMW X3 will have to soldier on for a few more years until the arrival of an all-new model at the end of the decade. Spy shots of a suspicious 3-series wagon with a much taller ride-height than the standard model are believed to be of the prototype for the new X3. The images only revealed a new suspension set-up, with a lower control arm and a wider track, but this new rendering gives us a hint as what the new car will look like.
The new X3’s dimensions will hardly change compared with the current car and its styling will be shaped to reflect elements from the CS Concept. The basic shape will remain much the same, however, as this rendering suggests, the new SUV will receive a more prominent grille and new wraparound headlights. Designers will also focus on improving the quality of the interior.
Production of the car is being moved to BMW’s Spartanburg plant in the U.S. where it will be built alongside the new X6 and X5. Expect to see the twin-turbo 3.0L from the 335i make its way into the X3 range as well as the powerful but frugal new 204hp 2.0L turbodiesel. Engineers are also likely to add a hybrid version of the car as previewed by the X6 Hybrid concept at last week’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
The next couple of years will be very busy for BMW as it prepares for the launch of several new models such as the recently revealed X6 crossover, new V-series and another X car, the all-new X1.

Re: Next gen X3 spotted

This is not F25 X3 but a pre-FEP E70 X5 prototype.

But I have no idea why is still driving around. :t-hands:

You're right. Very strange indeed. I thought it was something new given the date of that post over at Bimmerfest, and took at as something new. Sorry for the false alarm.

From WCF:

Unmistakable

It has been long in the rumour mill, but we have finally managed to snag us some pictures of the all new BMW X3 prototype on the streets of Munich. The previous generation underwent a facelift half-way 2006 and is reaching the end of its life-cycle.

Of course the prototype is heavily draped in camouflage and hard plastic covers but there really is no mistaking what it is. The BMW X3 appears to have some of the BMW X6's smooth flow from the A- to C-pillars but without sacrificing headroom of cargo space. Our spyphotographer thinks a little more of 'sportwagon' has made its way into the design language.

It is reported that the new X3 is based on the 3-series platform, but it has been widened and lenghtened to add more functionality to the shape.

Looks a lot more wagonish, if this is indeed the next X3.

They better don't mess up with X3 this time! After the new X5, i don't want to think they'll make the same mistake like with current X3, i'm expecting them to come up with something nice this time, more appealing and more attractive.

I'm worried about that big grille though. It'll work on larger cars like 7er, but on small one like X3?

:t-cheers:

Re: Next gen X3 spotted

Actually looks like it could be extremely nice... Has a real sporty look to it!!!

It has to be better then the current X3 or i will shot myself...

Because of the rear it looks more like F3 than X3. Like Tycoon, I'm also wondering how well the big grille will fit this car.
