I really can't express enough of disapointment when I look at the last pictures...
I mean.. Audi.. C'mon!!! This A3 is really your chance to crush the opponents in this class (especially since the new 1er is the ugliest car the world has ever seen).... And this is what you have??? Yeah, let's just give it exactly the same design as the recently facelifted A4 and A5???? I mean C'MON!!!!!!
Now im just pissed. Where is the imagination? Where are the lines???
Do something NEW for god damnit!!!
I thought this new design theme would started at least a little with the next A3.... Im just mad.

+1

If it goes on so, the situation may completely turn against Audi and BMW. The new A Class will be very sexy if it is anything like the concept and it aims the young ones (18-28). The more young people drive Mercedes, the younger Mercedes will get.

I don't like the side view mirrors placed on the doors. For a Boxter/Cayman, 911, R8, Gallardo, 458 Italia, SLS it is OK, but for every car of of the Audi line-up it is too much.

I see the A6 rearlights very clearly, and the front headlights of A4/A5 facelift. So, nothing new here !

And look at that side profile!! It's almost exactly like the 1997 model....

Where is the imagination that Audi showed us for example with the Mk2 TT where the car looks like it's moving, even if its standing still. Where are the beautiful lines??
To me, this looks like a car for Berta, 56.... And not Jack, 22...

New Audi A3 to get Apple Infotainment-System?

Some rumors say iPad 3 will come with a 7" screen. Others say it won't as it would hurt iPhone sales. One says the small iPad Mini is for the infotainment system in VAG. Let us wait and see. I could be interesting if true.

The 7" inch screen is for an infotainment system Apple is making for the VW Group. It will debut in the 2013 Audi A3. It will include Siri, Apple Maps and Directed Audio for private calls. Audi has been chompin at the bit for years to have a partnership with Apple. Another industry changer.

Remember that an infotainment system for a car has different user requirement than an iPad or iPhone, it's an OEM product and thus will have little incommon with Apple products sold in store. Given that it should be easy to control while the car is moving, the interface will share little or nothing with the iPad. Not to mention carry Audi identity and design language. As for a 7 inch iPad, there won't be one next year. There are a handful of 5-7 inch android tablets/phones on the market but none have achieved commercial success for the reason that 7inches is too large for pockets but too small for a device to be productive. And with many people carrying phones that are 3.5-4.5 inches, owning another device that just a notch larger is a waste.

Well, just thought to share. But it is possible that in future all cars may have the same infotainment systems, just with different skins. I remember SCOTT said the new iDrive would be based or built in coorp. with Linux.

Like many other aspects of car manufacturing, many brands do share supplier for generic components such an infotainment systems and get them tailored. The VW Bulli concept had an impractical iPAd slapped on the front console and one of the E-Tron concepts had an Apple designed infotainment system. I'm curious as to what they will do as most phones like the iPhone already extend their functionality to cars via bluetooth. What are we going to get, Grand Theft Auto 3 app in the next A3 2.0T?

^ Looks taught and masculine. I really like it compared to that monstrousity that is the 1 series.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
