I don't think so. The 3Series/M3/M4 is BMWs halo model. That has the biggest market for Alpina variants.

Worth a consideration is that BMW Individual has been progressively expanding their "personalization" catalogue. This encompasses 3 and 5 series vehicles. And this may have left corporate decision-makers contemplating whether expanding the "new, wholly owned" ALPINA into the 5er and sub-5er segments could constitute a dilution of the market positioning ALPINA has now endeavored to focus on. The "exclusivity" of the new ALPINA may simply be more appropriately conveyed in top-end rather than executive vehicle segments.

Time to show Maybach how do luxury properly. I'm excited now, as the execution might go beyond what we've seen of previous Alpina models.

I really love Alpina BMWs and hoping this take over will be start of something great.
 
Hmmm... I really like Alpinas and the more they talk about it the less I'm looking forward to it. This stuff about it going up against Maybach, and being a bridge between BMW and Rolls-Royce might make sense from a product portfolio planning perspective... but it's not what Alpina was.

The B6S, the B7S Turbo Coupe, the B10 Bi-Turbo, the B8 4.6, the Supercharged B5... these were not cars that existed in some space between what BMW is and Rolls-Royce was or is.

"Couldn't" do is probably true, however the bottom line is that they did do stuff that BMW didn't.
 
Alpina offered a level above M in Performance and exclusivity. I hope the new Alpina wants to continue this and offer high performance and exclusivity.
The upcoming 7/i7 and X7 need to go higher than before. Alpina were never afraid to encroach into M’s territory. I hope BMW maintain this bravery.

It seems that everything related to the logo will be colorless, rather all silver and black.

The logo is colored in the very thumbnail of the vid, just saying. The red YT play button is right over it.

Yeah BMW bought them to make more money, not to keep doing what they were already doing. I was sad the second this deal was announced because it was clear what it would lead to.
