580hp..god damn..MB better rethink..if they belive the next E63 will do good with 550.. its time to take the V8 to 600hp

dont stare only on horsepowers, dont forget the extra weight of Quattro. I think the new RS6 is going to be faster than M5 and E63 up to 100km/h, from 0-200km/h the differences will be a lot closer.

and if RS6+ comes it will come in the end of the RS6 existing which mean years ahead.

yeah i know.. i was just in HP world there..
but still 507/514 vs 580 the jump is to large .. plus RS cars dont handle bad..
so it will be one generation ahead in everything.. if not i will be surprised..

The V10 bi-turbo engine can easily go up to 630 hp with a electronic magagement upgrade. Audi has tested the engine with that output and there was no problem. So RS6+ (if ever made) will have around that number.

The M5 E39 with 400 Bhp was the ultimate sports saloon, but then Audi turned up at the party with 50 more Bhp and four-wheel-drive. Soon the M5 became a dot in the rear-view mirror... still a close dot, though.

And don't forget the Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG W211.

Surely not 426 kW for a 4 door saloon? As if 395 kW isn't more than enough. As if the current 5.2 litre V10 without turbocharging isn't more than enough. Where this is all going heaven only knows. You'd swear there wasn't a fossil fuel crisis and that petrol costs 30p a gallon.

Twin-turbo V10? Fine bring it on. It'll make for good conversation. But believe me, the world doesn't need this. Not in an A6 sedan or Avant. Supercars are one thing but enough really ought to be enough.

Seriusly. 571 and 507 hp is a HUGE difference. No worry about the little extra Quattro weight. The RS6 will sure kill the m5 both in straight line and on track.

I have heard several times that they tested the RS6 with that engine with 680hp....

Of course it will be faster but the new RS6 wont vanish away and become a little dot for M5 or E63 owners.

It won't become a little dot , it will disappear in the horizon.Lol...

Like Martin says , 500+ hp in a sedan are useless but since Mercedes and BMW already offered such "useless" cars , Audi would have to do the same sooner or later.

this much horsepower in a car just makes me sick, i really hope the german from now on can take on a different approach when improving performance, such as weight reduction, transmission efficiency and even fuel consumption. because all that power aren't really applicable outside of german autobah.

Nope, keep it coming! I can't wait for the day BMW comes back out with the M7, I'm thinking around 720HP!

At such speed HP is the only thing that matters and if the RS6 packs 580 of them the M5 and E63 won't stand a chance at speeds above 62mph.

I dont want to start a war but i just want to state some facts.
Guys Audi always is not that fast for the horsepower quoted. The current RS4 is not that much faster than the E46 M3 and is not faster than the E39 M5. The old M5 has a worse power to weight ratio than the rs4 and its much older. So all this talk of the M5 and E63 being a dot in the mirror is nonsense. Besides the old RS6 0-150 time was 3 seconds slower than the E39 M5 according to Car and Driver. The E39 M5 got 27.7 seconds 0-150 and the e60 M5 got 20.7. The E63 benz got 23.4 and the M6 got 19.5. I mention the M6 because the new RS6 will probably have a similar power to weight ratio.

Probably, I am just making a friendly wager .

But unless the RS6 gets some 7 speed DSG gearbox, I do fancy my chance - the auto tranny + AWD is going to be a lot of parasitic loss at very high speeds.
