Hatchback, fastback....something different at least, which is always good.

All Audis look the same

BOOOORING, this A7 will be hardly any different, although edgier

My buddy has been working with Audi this year on some marketing-type programs and had a chance to see a pre-production A7. He said "You will jizz" when we see it.

That's what all the Audi insiders had been saying about the new A8 for years as well, I vividly remember.
I'll judge for myself when the time is there. The car will have only one contender, so if Audi makes a great car, they should do well

Quite right, the new A7 is very impressive. The car is sort of similar in shape to the A5SB but tail is more flat and the rear glass more curved.

It seems that Audi are as confused as the rest of us.
The initial statement was it to be a Mercedes-Benz CLS , Porsche Panamera rival , now they are saying it is lined up against the 5er Gran Turismo. Which is it?

Having sat in The Sportback Concept last year I can tell you it is no 5er Gran Turismo in the rear in terms of space.
If the industry rumours are correct then within the next 15 months we will see a Volkswagen Premium 4dr Coupe Concept - a precursor to the next Phaeton and the brief for that ,if to be believed is to be several levels above of the current Phaeton.

and where exactly did you find any official statement from Audi to come into this conclusion this early? whatever is written is only journalistic speculations...

It's a dig at BMW, inferring that the 5 series GT's design is influenced by that of the Rover SD1 and its predecessor, the Austin Maxi. BMW owned Rover between 1994 and 2000.

OH! Ha ha ha ha... I should be ashamed that I didn't figure it out. So funny to think that BMW used to be tied-down with Rover and was almost on the verge of acquisition.

I still don't get all the 5er GT hate. It's a great looking vehicle on the road.

I see that VAG are planning to have a four door coupe in every segment:

Passat CopyCat
A5 Sportback
A7 Sportback
Panamera
Continental GT Sportback?
Galibier

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
