Hello forum members,

I'm buying a Renault Megane by the end of the month (you can read my second post in order to know why did I choose a damm french car), but I want to make the car's reservation this week and I've to choose colour. My dealer have them in red, black, dark gray, silver and white. I'm torn between white and dark gray.

Which one do you think looks better?

White (and perhaps darkening the rims a bit, kind like the last pic)

Or dark gray?

Opinions are welcome, thanks in advance!

Congrats on new car!

Just from the pics - grey. But really depends on what you looking for - white pops out more, grey is more stealth. Problem with grey is it washes out in direct sunlight.

Why a Renault Megane?
Well, to start with is quite cheaper than their direct competition (always talking about prices and availability in my country), as Renault is moving loads of Dusters, Sandero Stepways, etc, but can't move anything but their cheapest cars, so good discount for the Megane.
And then it comes better equiped than any other car (non premium) in the segment.
My final decision was between VW Jetta (Golf is not offered here ), Fiat Bravo, Peugeot 301 and Hyundai I30. The Megane is 2.5k us dollars cheaper than the VW and Hyundai, and comes well equipped for safety: 6 airbags, abs, esp, traction control. The VW is offered with just 2 airbags and abs, and the Hyundai doesn't even comes with ABS!!!!:eek::eek: Way to go, Hyundai! :finger::finger:
Also, the Megane has dual zone climate control, keyless go, auto wipers and lights as standard, none of these offered in the aforementioned cars.

The Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Chevy Cruze, Kia Cerato/Forte where way more expensive, while Ford and Dodge are just offering SUVs and pickups, and no sedans/hatchbacks. Mazda is still waiting for the new 3, they told me half a year more before it comes to latin America, Nissan has a good price on the Sentra, but I just sold my Sentra and wanted to try something different. I didn't even bother with Mitsubishi, as their dealer sucks ass.

I test drove the Megane and quite liked, good enough engine, slick 6 speed manual gearbox, good ride and confort, very quiet and pretty bad electric steering, but I'm buying it for long distance travel, not driving it with enthusiasm. Also, the interior feels very sturdy, just in par with the Honda and VW, nothing is flimsy nor rattles.

:)

I think grey might give this particular car a more sporty (sleeker) presence than the white which tends to make it look larger (the darker wheels definitely make a big difference however). Ironically, I just switched my Macan Turbo build from white to palladium metallic. White is becoming omni-present in the states and I wanted something a little different.

Good luck and congratulations. I am sure it will look great in either color.

Thanks Sunny (y)
Not really choosing the colour because of a particular reason other than style. BTW, my others two cars, the Fiat and the Merc are both light silvers, perhaps white adds some variety to the stable. I'm avoiding black or red because dust shows up more easily....

Thanks Rurella! :)

Grey, especially if spec. includes the black plastic door protectors, white makes them far too obvious and consequently cheapens the car's appearance. However, the last picture of a white car with the contrasting wing mirrors, dark alloys and xenon lights looks quite fetching  Either way, the Megane is a great choice if your primary concern is comfort, I hope you'll be happy with your choice:)

Thanks guys! I'll be choosing dark gray and will paint those horrible black plastic to match, by myself. Will be doing the reservation on saturday, with the rest of the amount on january 5. I guess that will have the car a few days later.

Thanks again!

The Reanult dealer gave me a call, I'm picking the car tomorrow. Dark gray was sold out, so it went silver in the end. My oher two cars are silver as well
But I'm thinking of selling the Fiat and getting a Swift Sport, for my city car.

Will post pics in the weekend.

Thanks

a Swift Sport

Massive fun! Feels like a go-kart. Kind of reminds me of the Mini, but feels lighter, more agile and rattles far far less! Oh, and it's cheaper, too!

You can't go wrong with it, if you like its looks!

:)

PS. As you may have understood, I have a really soft spot for this segment :D

I'm looking forward to driving the little car. As Renault and Suzuki are distribuited by the same company, I can get a nice discount, too ;)
I like the looks and I aslo like all the standard kit it has (xenon, etc)

So a perfect mix of the two really. White was very in fashion, but I think it's a bit 'over' now.

Congratulations on the new car!

Thanks! There was a very nice red, called ruby red, but my city is too hot to drive anything that's not light colours...
