I have to choose between Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi EF-S and Nikon D 3000. Sale person suggested Nikon. Please give me some info if you know them or maybe some other suggestions about different cameras. :eusa_thin

No idea about the Canon EOS Digital Rebel, because it looks like it is not available on the german market.
Personally I would choose the Nikon D 3000. I have the D60 and I absolutely love my camera. Well would love to upgrade to a D90 or higher, but for starters and casual-photographers the D60 is just perfect. So I think, the D3000 is perfect for you… :usa7uh: …you should also try the cameras and what handles better in your hands etc…

edit: just checked some US sites and the Canon is also one great camera…more pixel etc…don't know if it is already one of Canons new cameras with the better chip in it…

This is too much Nikon for my biased eyes. Go Canon!

Investigate what equipment your favourite photographers use, and what is the most popular gear in the fields of photography you plan to shoot within and see what you find(and no, I don't mean the car spotting thread here on GCF). Even if you go for an entry level piece it's good to do it properly from the start, your interest might cube, and who knows - perhaps even your budget.

Nikon might be the most sensible option now, but in a year or two I bet you'll wish you went Canon.

Biasness shutting down....

:t-cheers:

Thanks for good ideas. I'm going to see Phase One, look interesting, Hasselblad not available in Canada.

I've got Canon EOS XSi (EOS 450D in Europe). It suits my needs well though it's becoming too small for my hands. I think whatever you choose between the two, you won't be disappointed. Maybe Canon is a better option because of the IMO better lens lineup and user friendly.

What do you plan to use the camera for?

I'm going to use it for my family events, horses, cars, very amateur use but I like to have some good quality pics;
