more than half of his info is bs...my estimates as to what will happen in the industry are more accurate than anything he tells us....

Scott has informed me a lot of stuff even before it was officiall from BMW. Dont miscred him. He is well-informed and know a lot more about upcoming BMW than anyone else here.
Also it would be intresting to hear if he has something more to say about a new M.

he insisted that the 1 series coupe would be called the 2 series,

my post is the fifth or sixth down...
he said the z4 would be fitted with the M3's V8 and eventually the V10 in a CSL version..
that has yet to be seen...
oh yea and lets not forget the 9 series speculation that we pretty much shut down as being a real possibility...

I read in an article where the a BMW Manager stated that the Z4 M will eventually get the S65 engine:

are you reffering to M3 Touring? I cant see bmw showing a Touring before a 4-door unless its some kind of Concept.
BTW I heard that the employess working for BMW in Hamburg have been told that from September you will be able to order a M3 Touring.

Thats kinda backwards IMO. Cabrio should be now to catch the last of summer.
Anyway, by the time all 3 hit the U.S. BMW is going to have to hire extra sales people. Between all these M3 models and the X6 BMW's sales press releases are going to get ever rosier!

When BMW first implemented plans for the 6er they wanted to even the numbers . Ideal proof here is how the 3er coupe/cabrio is very much different from the sedan and Touring. The reason is that the BMW board of management where heading towards the even number and introduce the 4er .
Hence why the designers where asked to distance the design from the regular 3er models.
Unfortunately marketing vetoed this idea more for the fact of the iconic M3 badge - They could not leave it on a sedan whilst ignoring the now legendary coupe. Looka t the marketing for the 1er Coupe and you will see links and connections to the 2002. This is what we set out to do when BMW where initially going to call the car the 2er- Because this is the greatest link to the 2002 - The number 2. I was saddened when we were told it will be a regular 1er because I pushed for 2002 because the 1er Coupe and the 2002 are pure BMW - agile, nimble and share the same fun and passion factor. Whilst the name has changed the marketing has remained.
Regarding PLS - Well you have seen it! read the text of a four door sleek coupe with dynamic sloping roof line and you can see it is the CS Concept.
CS in production form will be the seague and bridge to Rolls-Royce and eliminate the need for a higher performance M variant of the 7er. In which Alpina will cater for that market whilst the M5 will remain the performance sedan in BMW's M product line up there is no need for anything more.
