GLE Mercedes ML-Class SUV – W166 (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.
The good news are that Mercedes is going away from that ugly squarish design features on the GLK, I was afraid about the interior specially.

Pretty nice!

Interesting how it has bits from the SLS interior.. the command knob, AC rings, strip of buttons for seat heaters. Curious to see what the knobs around the command do, and if the pop up or what? Definetly looks a little more premium and I like how it has a wood strip on the passenger side.

Thank you Mercedes for bring that Nav up. Looks great! I might have to buy one this time.

They're really rushing the ML it seems. The current one just got a facelift and already the next generation appears to be months away from production. Either this new ML is going to sit on the same chassis with the new Jeep GC or they're going to a new platform to distance Mercedes from Jeep.

Its still kinda early to see this one so well along in development. S-Class just got a facelift and we haven't see a new one yet. We should see the CLS, and SLK before the ML.

While the interior looks good, I'm not too sure about the exterior. I'm just not feeling it right now, but I'll wait until some more cammo comes off.

Thats true, this is a way more detailed shot of the interior then what has been shown of the CLS.

I'm also wondering how much smaller it will be than the current model. Of course it will be good for it to shed a few pounds, but I hope it doesn't sacrifice room and comfort.

It will be interesting to see if or how this interior will transfer to the next GL, which probably won't come out until at least 2013. Not to mention the constant mentioning of the next R-class.

Well it doesn't look too far from the current M-class overall shape. As long as it doesn't take anything from the GLK, it should be ok. Might get a shape face like the E & E coupe though.

W164 ML was presented in Detroit 2005 so if we add the usual 7-years-lifecycle it should be unveiled at the NAIAS (Detroit) in January 2012. That's unless they have indeed shortened the W164's lifecycle.

In that comparison, this new ML looks more like a refresh. It's like Cut-paste ML, lol.

Lol...Thats true. Maybe more of an evolution of the current model. The interior change is amazing though. Then again Mercedes-Benz could be playing games. For now, I'm expecting the same body with E-class edges and some LED "action" in the front and back.

Yeah, but I'm hoping for what BMW did with the X5. It looks very much like an evolution of the previous model, but it's just so aggressive looking and fantastic. Those LEDs are going to stay on, they're not going anywhere.

I see more wood, that's a good thing. I also noticed the gear selector looks similar to the one in the F700.

Can't tell what are all those buttons next to the COMAND controller for?

WCF says that one is an all wheel drive adjust system (Like Land Rover Terrain Response) and the other is for the adaptive suspension.

Sounds sophisticated.
:t-cheers:

I really like the interior it is really looking very very nice i must say i look forward to this car and if it can get a 7 seater option i will buy one..

Two things i am a bit worried.

Firstly it looks a bit smaller or almost the same i was hoping for it to be a slight bit bigger..Maybe thats for the GL.

Secondly the exterior shape looks almost a copy off the current one i hope their will be more changes i like the shape of the current ml but i think a slightly more aggressive look would do great not very aggresive just a tad more..

If it looks close to the pic on the !st page and with this interior it should be a winner..

7 seater then my order will almost be ready...

I like the interior too. Looks really good so far! Much better than the E and E-coupé thank god...
