Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

If Pagani can get a V12 built by AMG for their puny 200 Utopias to be built over 10 years then 1000 people who want to order a $350K V12 Maybach a year should definitely get their V12 engines instead of a V8. It makes economical sense and Mercedes will benefit as well as the rich customer. I reckon its probably more expensive to produce the hybrid powertrain and 4-cylinder in the C63 than the V12.

I agree.

They’re pouring a lot of money for these cars (including the AMG SUV) knowing that they’re gonna flop horribly. Interesting move by them. Gotta love the enthusiasm.
And these decisions were made years ago. They can’t just abandon the project now. That would be an even bigger fumble.

The 4 cylinder and certain hybrid powertrain components are used in other models, so I doubt it.

Also comparing this to Pagani is absurd. They make one model at a time and will literally cease to exist if they don’t offer the V12. Their very few customers will walk away, something they’ve expressed clearly over the years.

Mercedes would be a boring world without them. They don't settle for ordinary cars like their competitors. Throughout their history, they've been eager to do different things.
What’s the different thing? An electric high performance sedan with an SUV counterpart? Please. 🤣

Yeah, that as well. They didn’t plan all of this EV downfall. It will be interesting to see both of these cars perform.

Just like with the BMW 7er, I like the non sport version better in terms of front bumper design.

Those holes on the sides of the AMG pack are simply way too round for my liking.

The AMG hybrid powertrain is unique to the C63 SE, GT63 SE, SL63 SE, S63 SE models as it is comes from their experience with the F1 cars. It is not the same as the plug in hybrid components used in their other cars. Been based on their F1 setup will mean components wont be cheap.

Well if Mercedes can offer a V12 engine to a small manufacturer such as Pagani, why can't they also sell a V12 in their own luxury models? To me that doesn't make sense at all. They are selling 20K Maybach models a year and to sell 1000 to 2000 V12 models will make them more money than selling to Pagani. The only reason they are making the V12 engine for Pagani is for prestige.
