Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

It reminds me of the EQ cars too much, but I’ll wait to see it. We must be close.

Certainly similarities. However, the positioning of the A-pillar bases and a more traditional hood/hoodline make it more "acceptable" than the odd "clamshell+ugly shutline" EQE/EQS sedans IMHO. More attractive sideglass graphics as well.

Errr. It could easily pass as an EQE from this angle.

It reminds me of the BMW 3- and 5-series Gran Turismo models. I was not a fan with the bloated whale, crossover look, and so far I am not a fan of this either.

I hope this is now what they intend to do to the E and S Class models. I was told to expect an identical design between ICE and EV.

Judging by the renders, I can say that the proportions look quite pleasing to the eye. We'll need to see the details to form a definitive opinion, especially the rear. Connecting it to EQE is ridiculous. Please don't do that.

Similar, for certain. But then again different, to the benefit of the C-Class EQ sedan.
Yeah I dunno. Doesn't look similar at all to my eye, anyway.
The rounded C pillar window line softens that region a bit too much, which might give that impression. Doesn't look outright bad. Just not that good. At least from the rear 3/4.

Overall it’s just mid, and from that angle it really resembles an EQE or EQS, which is not a good thing. Still too soft and rounded at the back.

The C EQ has some very interesting looking surface changes on the top and middle of the doors and rear haunches that make it less slab sided than the EQE. The front fenders are hugely improved and have some nice flares above the wheel arches and no awkward and ugly looking triangular panels. The bonnet surfacing reminds me of older Mercedes models and hopefully the classic grill as like GLC will enhance the frontal styling.

I am looking forward to see the Gasoline version, which should arrive a little bit later.

The biggest problem of that car is the range, I use my V mainly for longer distances 300miles and more.

For this use case nothing beats a ICE.
What's the problem with a nice cup of coffee break with a decent bit of charging ???

Provided that the charging infrastructure works as flawlessly as a the common station fuel pump and increasingly rapid charging times are the rule, I personally would see no reservations whatsoever. I seldom drive longer distances myself as of more recently, but our last longer trips of some 400 kms to the Baltic Sea coast in the far northeast of Germany usually had my wife and I stopping to stretch our legs and have an espresso at the 270-300km mark. A stop of about 15 minutes. Refreshing and healthy.

Of course, no fueling or charging involved in our old compact ICE SUV. Just stretching and espresso.

If I would own an EV I would probably charge it overnight at home rather than having to go and look for a charging station. This would satisfy our daily route at home where I or my wife possibly drive about 60km in a day to take my 2 daughters to school and University and grocery shopping.

Best solution certainly. Without the German federal/state subsidies, hardware and installation costs for mid-teir wallbox chargers will be in the vicinity of some 1500-1800 Euros. Somewhat less should installation be relatively simple (no long cables, no masonry work required, etc.). It is always advantageous to have a solar panel linkage, also in terms of subsidies alloted.

Fortunately, in suburban areas, more and more public charging opportunities are available. Although hardly an issue for me and my wife currently, the successor to our current ICE vehicle would almost certainly be a BEV. In our particular area, there are a number of public charging opportunities within a 5km radius of our home. Our electricity provider EWE has some very attractive offers that encompass both household electricity as well as BEV charging.

Among the next completely new MB cars are:

CLA EQ/SB
C EQ
GLC EQ
GLB EQ
GLA EQ
g EQ
GT XX
GT SUV

Although the CLA EQ sells well at the moment I expect the customers to move to the GLB EQ.

The g might sell because of the design, as a baby G.

The GLC and GLB should sell well in Europe. I guess those 2 will have 80% of the MB EQ cake.

I Expect the GLA to be a little bit in the shadow of the GLB ( it’ll depend from the design).

The C EQ,GT XX and GT SUV are DOA, as are the CLA/SB on the midterm.

In the USA none of these cars will sell.

The current GLB and GLC is already super popular in Turkiye, so I’m pretty sure they’ll sell great if the pricing ends up being reasonable. I don’t know about the GLA though (both EV and ICE) as those are pretty much a rarity, at least in my city.

Damn i can’t believe in today’s age manufacturers like BMW know where to really invest their money than Mercedes.

They have an upcoming:
-IX1
-IX3
-IX4
-All new 3 series
-All new X5
-All new X7
-LCI 5 series
-LCI 7 series

Mind you most of these cars are going to be ICE, with Plug-in versions separately. For the EV part…The iX3 M50 seems to have a bigger battery pack than our beloved GLC400.

Mercedes clearly over invested in this EV propaganda. Because what do you mean a 2019 GLE or GLS that’s heavily facelifted is going to compete with All-new X5 & X7 after 8 years?

As for the W206 facelift that still hasn’t migrated away from the W205 AMG line styling from 2014, Do you guys think it’s going to stand a chance against that Neue Klasse G50 that’s being released on the 18th? Our facelifted C-class is not even HERE YET. What could save the W206 now is different bumpers completely for the non-AMG & that new V8 with a 4matic setup for the 63 AMG.

There’s too many EVs at Merc as of recent, they need to slow down & Make new ICE cars immediately.
