Decent render, but again doesn't look like a Mercedes. I don't expect anything great out of this car's design. The EV tech will be featured more than it's design, IMO.

I kinda like this render, but the tail light design is a new approach for Mercedes and unfortunately makes it look anonymous. A bit like a VW CC or VW Arteon at the back.

In essence, not really a "bad thing" at all:

Correct that lack of "prestige clearance", and the Arteon is a pretty smart looking, modern automobile.

I wonder what was the initial design for the C and GLC. They had those really big headlights and a sloping hood.
It would be fun to see what they discarded; it must have been as bad or worst as the EQS/EQE front. In 15 years, perhaps some archive photo or drawing will surface, unless the order was "destroy the mules, burn all the photos" when they realized how wrong they were.

Exactly. I was not able to connect the dots but the CC and Arteon are great examples.

Obscure M-B prototypes frequently come to the surface many years later:

I hadn't seen these; they are the necessary preliminary steps in the pursuit of the perfection we see as the final result.

I love seeing the alternative designs, it’s so fascinating. I wish automakers would share those.
I don't recall ever seeing an alternative that was better than the final approval.

The world premiere of the G-Class (Baby G) is expected in the second half of 2027.
It also uses the MMA technology kit, which means it will feature an 800-volt system. Unlike the G 580 EQ, it will probably not have four electric motors, which means that G-Turn will not be possible.
The exterior length will be approximately 4.50 m. This makes the length comparable to the new GLA (which will celebrate its world premiere as the GLA EQ in August 2026). The G 350 4matic EQ with 354 hp will have a range with the 85 kWh battery that is just below that of the GLB 350 4matic. The range is expected to be around 570-590 km.
The charging capacity will be over 320 kW and charging from 10-80% will take around 22 minutes.
The rear axle will feature its own electric motor with a 2-speed transmission (eATS2.0). A second PSM motor (eATS 1.6) with a disconnect unit will be installed on the front axle.
The name says it all: the Baby will probably come with all-wheel drive as standard, so there will probably be no 250+ with rear-wheel drive.
Originally, the Baby G was planned to be purely electric. However, Mercedes is said to have changed its plans. The small G is now also expected to come with a combustion engine. This is where its relationship to the MMA platform pays off. The M252 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is rumored to be used. It remains to be seen whether the g 220 4matic with a system output of 211 hp is befitting for a member of the G family.
