It’s a complete abandonment of the core elements that made most of us BMW fans in the first place. Sporty luxury dynamics and design with driver-oriented sport luxury interiors. What we’re left with now are interiors with surface-level design . They are not true to BMW's DNA.

Most of the 'supporters' here only back this direction because it has a BMW badge on it, not because it’s true to what BMW was.

It's honestly crazy how quickly it happened too. I had a G30 and literally everything was the same as my E39 just done in a more modern way. Same 4 gauge layout, driver tilted cockpit, round steering wheel, same type of headlight switch, interior orange glow at night, same lock indicators on the top of the door, physical controls for literally everything with custom preset buttons, full seat controls with power headrest, even the key had the exact same button layout, same Helvetica font used throughout the car as well as in all the brochures and marketing. Not to even mention the exterior similarities.

In my opinion the F10 and G30 didn't drive like real BMWs with terrible numb steering but at least looking at them and sitting in them they felt like proper BMWs.

G60 and the new lineup as a whole just took a large shit on all of that.

What an arrogant shit brand this is. Using Renault and Geely motors pretending MB is THE brand with "in house MB engines.

Using emission-software for the diesel engines to mislead customers and governments like VW and Audi makes this brand completely untrustworthy.

A bumpy road on the A4 at 19 degrees Celsius with a 96% charge. The goal was to drive at 160 km/h, despite all the dangers that came with it. So, for 107 km, I mostly drove between 140 and 195 km/h. The average speed was 145 km/h. A truly unfavorable driving profile for an electric car. Average consumption is 20.2 kWh per 100 km. With this driving style, the CLA would have covered 420 km.

Good cruising speed on the moderately bumpy A9 highway at 18-19 degrees Celsius.

130 km/h cruise control, covers 100 km at an average speed of 126 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 13.7 kWh per 100 km. With this driving style, the CLA covers approximately 620 km.

On a slightly bumpy A9 highway at 16 degrees Celsius, we drove 76 km at an average speed of 106 km/h with the cruise control set at 110 km/h.

Average fuel consumption was 12.4 kWh per 100 km. With this driving style, the CLA covered 685 km.

The new CLA engine is not a Geely engine but designed by Mercedes Benz and manufacturers in China by Geely. Its a fully in house design by Mercedes.

The CLA certainly is quite an economical electric car and I find it more impressive in city driving at lower speeds where if driven frugally 1000km range is achievable if driving a constant 80km/h or 800km at 100km/h.

Another person responded from their driving of the CLA and he achieved some great numbers confirming Mercedes claim of 12kwh power usage. The charging speed is also very convenient and not far off an ICE.

The new technologies that M-B and AMG are presenting are mighty impressive. Hats are off to them.

Unfortunately, I am finding myself a bit disappointed by their exterior design direction. Certainly not ugly, of course. Simply appearing...a bit bland mixed with that contrived "neo-retro" radiator shield. Other exhibitors at the IAA Mobility 2025 presented more interesting, more exciting exercises IMHO.

I get that. I think the G Cabriolet, AMG GT Track Sport and FL GLE and GLS will help soothe some of that. At least I'm hoping it will. In the short term, be ready for some disappointment, i.e. the C-Class EV. It's gonna be ugly IMO.

Just thinking about it, Mercedes is really going to reveal a lot late this year and all next year - GLE FL, C FL, GLS FL, AMG Track Sport, G-Cabriolet, g-class mini G, CLE63 and the big one the S_Class FL. Hard to imagine that all these will be on sale for the 2027 model year in the USA, but that's what it looks like. Somewhere in there they will roll out more versions of the new CLA both EV and ICE, then the new GLA and GLB. That is lot of vehicles.

Probably the next model to debut in the upcoming months will be the new GLB EV. This could be a big seller next to the GLC.

I am curious whether this car will also have the same new grill as the GLC. It will probably look good with this new grill and more rakish than the current model.

The tail lights could be the talking point of this car, they do appear huge.

Interior will probably be a copy paste of CLA.

I can imagine the journalists will be having a field day as both BMW and Mercedes together will launch 80 cars in the next 2 to 3 years so the journalists will be driving new BMW and Mercedes models through their ass lol.

Yep and that is what the Japanese "luxury brands" can't even begin to understand of keep up. There really is only Lexus that is relevant at this point.

I imagine that you're spot on. This however applying to M-B brand "traditionalists" (for lack of a better term). I suppose this would apply primarily to North American M-B customers and fans. The dedicated ICE or ICE/Hybrid clients that cherish many of the products that you mention such as the various MoPF vehicles due soon. But in attempting to project this a bit further into the future, I am skeptical as to whether M-B design directors have a plan as decisive as what BMW or Audi are proposing. NKL and, after peeling away the corporate glib, "Clarity" appear to be bonafide messages of intent. Reflected in the form of the iX3 and Concept C. Clear commitments promising the presentation of genuinely new, exciting brand design paradigms. Somehow, I'm not getting that vibe from M-B. Of course, I may be proven absolutely wrong on this. Just my 2 Euro cents.
